A Maserati engine needs repair when one of 6 signs appears. On a 2024 Ghibli, 3 of them are cluster warnings: the MIL, the engine temperature light and the low oil pressure light. The other 3 are a falling coolant level, engine noise from a Nettuno V6 and blue smoke from a twin-turbo engine.
On a 2024 Ghibli, a MIL that stays lit or comes on while driving marks a fuel supply, ignition or emission control failure. The system stores the error either way. We replace the failed injector, coil, plug or sensor behind it.
On a 2024 Ghibli, the red engine temperature light, a display message and a chime mark an engine near its temperature threshold. Maserati has the driver pull over safely. We find the pump, thermostat, hose or fan behind the heat and renew it.
A 2024 Ghibli lights this warning, with a message and a chime, when engine oil pressure drops too low. Maserati tells the driver to switch off at once and leave the car parked until the problem is solved. The light does not show the oil level, so we check the level, find where the pressure goes and repair that fault.

Maserati engine failure in Dubai has 6 main causes. Maserati has acknowledged 3 of them on the Ghibli, Quattroporte and Levante: crossover leaks, cabin heater hose leaks and a leaking oil pan insert. The other 3 are a leaking cap or stuck thermostat, soiled radiator fins and a turbo starved of oil or damaged by sand.
In August, the mean daily maximum at Dubai International Airport reaches 41.9 °C. Rising sand is recorded there on 17.7 days per annum. A car queued at a junction gets no road air through its radiator, so the fan does all the cooling work.

An aluminium piston expands with heat at twice the rate of a grey cast iron cylinder, so overheating ends in piston seizure. A repaired cooling system holds the engine at its working temperature.
A turbo short of oil cannot supply enough air, so the mixture runs rich and the exhaust turns black. With each turbo fed again, the engine gets its air and the smoke stops.
Every Maserati engine job follows these steps:
The engine temperature, the outside heat, the rpm and how long the car has run go on the job card first. Our tests then repeat those conditions.
We read the stored errors and live engine data with a diagnostic tester. A rough engine with no stored code gets an intake pressure test, since an air leak can exist without one. The leaking hose or seal is then replaced.
Under pressure, a leak at the crossover, a heater hose, the pump or the radiator shows as a falling reading. We trace the drop to the part that leaks and replace it.
We clean the suspect area, apply tracing powder, warm the engine above 85 °C and let it idle. The powder marks the true source, and that gasket or seal is replaced.
A compression test shows which cylinder fails to hold pressure. 2 neighbouring cylinders that stay low with oil added can mean a head gasket leak between them, and we then replace the gasket.
Our road test recreates the conditions in which the fault first showed. Afterwards, the oil and coolant levels are read again and each opened joint is checked for seepage.

A replaced cooling part leaves foreign objects and contaminants behind in the circuit. We flush the whole system after every cooling component we replace, then refill and bleed it.
Radiator sealant has no place in our repairs. A leak is fixed by replacing the part that leaks.
Each turbocharger we install goes in with fresh engine oil, plus new oil and air filters. The new unit then starts on clean oil and clean air.
A radiator replacement at our workshop includes a new filler cap. The old cap valve stays out of the new system.
A new spark plug cures fouling for a short while when the cause remains. We find why the plug fouled, from oil entering the cylinder to a rich mixture or a dirty air filter, and fix that first.
