A badly fitted interior add-on shows 6 signs. An airbag light that stays on, a flat battery after parking and a fuse that blows again come from the wiring. Speaker static, a hot plug at the 12 V socket and a floor mat under the pedals complete the list.
On a 2021 Kia Sorento (MQ4), the airbag warning light shows for roughly 6 seconds after the ignition is switched on, then goes dark. A light that stays lit past those seconds, or reappears with the car in motion, signals a fault in the supplemental restraint system (SRS). Tesla applies its airbag precautions on the Model Y to interior trim work too, where the pretensioners, curtain airbags and restraint control module sit. We disconnect the 12 V battery before trim comes off near any of these parts.
Each add-on takes power through a fuse sized to its load. Where the maker provides an accessory connector, we use it instead of cutting into the harness.
Cables, lights and mounts stay off the airbag covers and clear of where the curtain airbags inflate along the pillars and roof rails. We refit every trim clip and fastener we released.
We check that the airbag light goes out, the speakers play without static and each add-on works. With the car locked, we measure the current the add-ons draw and rewire any that keeps draining the battery.

Tesla's limit for heat on a Model Y airbag module or belt pretensioner is 85 °C. In our workshop, heat guns and hot-air tools stay clear of seats, pillars and dashboards holding these parts.
Tesla bars used SRS components from another vehicle on the Model Y. We do not fit seats, steering wheels or trim that carry airbags taken from another car.
On a Tesla Model Y, a tether links the upper A-pillar trim to the body, and it is released and reattached with the trim. Each pillar trim we open for dash cam or lighting cables goes back on by the maker's method.
On a 2021 Kia Sorento (MQ4) with Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Kia bars accessories and stickers on the windscreen. We check the maker's rule for the camera area before we mount a dash cam.
The GCC standard GSO ECE 14:2026 covers the safety-belt anchorages of passenger vehicles, and GSO 97:1988 the adult belt assemblies. We leave seat rails, belt anchorages and pretensioners as the maker fitted them.

Kia warns that perfume, cosmetic oil, sun cream, hand cleaner and air freshener can damage or discolour the interior parts of a 2021 Sorento (MQ4). Wipe them off added trim as soon as they land.
