Lexus Battery ReplacementThe cards below take the car one system at a time and say what our workshop does on each.
Each service works through the items the manual lists for the current kilometre step of the car. We replace the parts marked R and inspect those marked I. An LC 500 takes a new air conditioning filter each 10,000 km and new spark plugs each 100,000 km.
The sump is drained, the filter renewed and the engine refilled to the grade and volume Lexus sets for it. An LX with the V35A-FTS leaves the factory on 0W-20 and holds 7.3 litres with the filter. An NX 350h takes 0W-16 and 4.5 litres, and an LC 500 is factory filled with 5W-30.
Lexus engines run from the 2.0 litre M20A-FKS of the UX 200 to the 5.0 litre 2UR-GSE V8 of the RC F and LC 500. The LX petrol and the LS 500 use the V35A-FTS 3.5 litre turbo V6. Our workshop seals oil and coolant leaks and repairs sensor faults on each, while engine rebuilds go to a Lexus dealer.
Our gearbox check looks for leaking seals, worn fluid and stored shift faults. We then renew the fluid or replace the seal at fault. The LX drives through a 10-speed automatic that locks up in almost all speed ranges, and its transfer case takes 75W transfer gear oil.
We replace worn pads, discs, callipers and hoses, then bleed in fresh fluid of the grade the manual names. An LX runs on DOT 3 or DOT 4 fluid and has electronically controlled brakes.
Worn arms, bushes, joints and shock absorbers are replaced, and the wheel alignment is set after the work. A UX 200 with AVS controls the damping of each of its 4 shock absorbers on its own. AHC and AVS on the LX and E-KDSS on the GX are systems whose tool-based work goes to a Lexus dealer.
We find and seal refrigerant leaks, replace failed compressors and condensers, and charge the refrigerant by weight. The IS schedule checks the refrigerant amount every 12 months. On a hybrid, any AC part wired to the high-voltage system goes to a Lexus dealer.
On an LX with Stop & Start, an unsuitable battery brings up "Non-dedicated Battery", so we fit a Stop & Start battery. Sensor, wiring and lamp faults are traced from the stored codes and repaired. Front camera calibration goes to a Lexus dealer.
Lexus hybrids carry nickel-metal hydride or lithium-ion traction batteries, from 244.8 V in one ES 300h version to 310.8 V in the LS 500h. We service their engines, brakes, 12 V batteries and cabin parts. High-voltage work goes to a Lexus dealer.
The common problems on a Lexus are 6 faults with a GCC recall behind them. They sit in LX500 and LX600 software and engines, the NX front camera, parking-assist units, RC and IS fuel tank vent tubes and high-beam LEDs. Each item below gives the models, the market and the work we carry out.

A Lexus service in Dubai follows the manual schedule, set in 10,000 km steps in the LX, RX and IS manuals. On an LX petrol or an RX 350h or RX 500h, the oil and filter are replaced when the reminder appears. The latest point is 12 months or 10,000 km.
An LX petrol driven mainly on dirt or dusty roads changes oil every 5,000 km or 6 months. On dusty roads, an IS has its air cleaner inspected every 2,500 km and its pads and discs every 5,000 km. The LX petrol and RX hybrid schedules add injector cleaner to the tank every 10,000 km, and the IS350 lists it for GCC countries.
The LX schedule renews the brake fluid every 40,000 km or 24 months and the AHC fluid every 100,000 km. We carry out the step that falls due first, by distance or by months. Dusty-road items are added where the car is used that way.

The automatic and hybrid transmissions in the Lexus manuals take ATF WS, and petrol ES and UX 200 CVTs take CVT Fluid FE. We fill each gearbox with the fluid its manual names.
An ES 300h battery passes when it holds 12.0 V or more after 30 seconds of high beam with the power switch off. We run that test on an ES 300h before replacing its battery, and charge at 5 A or less.
The RX 350h and RX 500h schedule lists the air intake vent filter of the hybrid battery. We inspect and clean it, working outside the high-voltage circuit.
Lexus warns against strong impact on the optional carbon-ceramic discs of an RC F. After a kerb strike or a hard knock, we refer the discs to a Lexus dealer for inspection, even with no visible damage.
The IS350 and IS300 manual prints a separate 15,000 km schedule for South Africa. Our intervals come from its 10,000 km schedule, the one that applies outside South Africa.
The LS 500, LS 350 and LS 500h manuals describe the sound of the air suspension compressor and valves as part of normal operation. We read the height-control codes first and refer a confirmed fault to a Lexus dealer.

Yes. The LX petrol runs the V35A-FTS 3.5 litre turbo V6, rated at 305 kW and 650 Nm. Its AHC gas chamber is first inspected at 40,000 km or 48 months, then at each 10,000 km or 12-month step. We carry out its service, and AHC repairs go to a Lexus dealer.
No. The UAE Ministry of Economy set 10,000 km as the minimum gap between car services, replacing 5,000 km. The Lexus GCC schedule keeps 5,000 km for an LX or IS driven mainly on dusty roads. We set the interval from the way the car is used.
The step due on the Lexus schedule sets the items, and the engine sets the oil grade and volume. A hybrid adds items such as the RX battery vent filter. Any worn part our inspection turns up adds its own cost.
