A car needs body shop repairs once it shows 1 of these 6 signs. The paint and panels show 4 of them: a dent or crease, chips or deep scratches, faded or peeling paint, and bubbles under the paint. The other 2 are a driver-assistance fault after a knock and a cracked windscreen.
A dent shows as a soft hollow in the panel, and a crease as a sharp fold line. For the Model Y, Tesla replaces a high-strength steel part whose damage includes creases or kinks. We replace a creased structural part and work a smooth dent out of an outer panel.
A chip or scratch that shows bare metal has cut through the paint and the primer. Jaguar tells XF owners to have chips and deep scratches repaired promptly, because bare metal corrodes quickly. We clean the damage back, then fill and refinish it in the car's colour.
Weathered paint can fail in 5 visible ways: gloss loss, colour change, yellowing, cracking and peeling. Photooxidation of the clear coat can crack it, and photooxidation of the coats beneath can make the paint peel. We sand the failed coats back to sound paint and refinish the panel.
Stellantis names bubbling and corrosion on the aluminium bonnet, doors, wings and liftgates of models such as the JL Wrangler and GA Giulia. On those models, corrosion inside the hem flange, the folded panel edge, calls for a new panel. We strip and refinish surface corrosion, and we fit a new panel once corrosion reaches the folded edge.
Maserati warns Ghibli owners that a damaged or misaligned front bumper can stop the driver-assistance systems from working. We repair or replace the bumper, then send the car to its maker's dealer to check and realign the radar.
The RTA periodic test covers glass condition and field of vision. We replace a cracked windscreen with safety glass that carries its maker's mark, as international glazing rules require of every pane.

Paint and panel damage on cars in Dubai has 6 causes. Impacts dent the panels, while sand, grit, sunlight, heat and coastal air wear down the paint and the metal beneath it.
Paint in Dubai faces air as hot as 48.8 °C, the August peak at the airport station for 1991 to 2020. Rising sand there averages 17.7 days annually. In Al Ain, white cars parked in shade averaged 47.4 °C on their body panels while the air stood at 37.4 °C.
We read the pattern of the damage: sand wear on the front end, sun fade on the roof and bonnet, rust at a chip. Then we refinish the worn panels or replace a corroded one.

Tesla bars clear coat blending on the Model Y, because the edges of a blended clear coat lift and discolour over time. Its method blends the base colour, then clears the whole panel. We clear every refinished panel from edge to edge.
Porsche states that its special levers can push out parking dents and hail damage with the part left on the car and the paint intact. Tesla accepts paintless dent removal for cosmetic Model Y damage as long as no access holes are drilled. We use it where the paint is unbroken, so the factory finish stays on the car.
On the Taycan, Macan, Cayenne, 911 and 718, Porsche sets paint thickness limits so the radar behind the bumper reads correctly. Poor repair or paint over the corner radar can trigger false warnings. We measure the paint thickness after refinishing a bumper over radar sensors and keep it inside the maker's limit.
Tesla supplies Model Y body parts without factory seam sealer. After a structural repair, it coats all bare metal and fasteners and sprays an anti-corrosion coating into the body cavities. We seal every structural repair with anti-rust coating, seam sealer and cavity wax.
After a crash that fires a seat belt pretensioner, Tesla replaces the restraint control module of the Model 3. Every belt and buckle in use during the collision is replaced as well. We fit new belts and buckles in place of each one the maker calls for after a pretensioner fires.
Tesla replaces a damaged Model Y part with a crash sensor attached. It also replaces, instead of repairing, body parts damaged near airbags, seat belts, impact sensors and intrusion beams. Our rule is the same: a damaged part that holds a crash sensor or sits beside an airbag is replaced.
No. UAE traffic law forbids a repair centre to work on a car that shows accident damage until a vehicle repair permit has been issued. In Dubai, the police accident report is the paper that the owner, the garage and the insurer work from.
Minor accidents can also be reported in the Dubai Police, MoI UAE and Saeed apps.
A simple accident report with no injuries goes to the insurer, and its 520 dirham fee falls on the driver at fault. Damage by an unknown party has its own report, which lets the owner repair the car. That report costs 400 dirhams plus a 20 dirham fee, is valid 3 months from issue and covers Dubai incidents.

Yes. A licensed car in Dubai can take a full car paint in a new colour once Dubai Police Criminal Investigation issues a permit. UAE traffic law bars a change of colour or body without the licensing body's approval, and the changed car is inspected before use.
Substantial body or engine modifications follow a separate route at the RTA. A car imported by its local dealer goes back to that dealer. A car imported from outside the UAE goes to the technical committee of the Technical Inspection section.

We inspect the damage first, then the airbag and pretensioner harnesses and the impact sensors near it.
Porsche checks a steel body with gauges on a straightening bench, but a multi-material body with digital measurement, to within plus or minus 1 mm. We compare the body with the maker's dimensions before structural work starts and again once it ends.
On the 2013 Accord, Honda replaces 1,500 MPa steel parts at the factory seams with resistance spot welds. Tesla sections a Model 3 panel when the repair procedure for that panel allows it. We cut and join structural parts at factory seams or at the maker's sectioning locations.
The 991-generation Porsche 911 joins its body with over 2,000 punched rivets and more than 120 m of adhesive. Porsche fits its workshops with thermostats so structural adhesives can harden. We rejoin bonded and riveted panels with structural adhesive and rivets instead of welds.
Mercedes-Benz prints the paint code on the identification plate of the E-Class W213. Maserati names the paint on the GranTurismo's rear driver door ledge label and on a plate at the lower left of the Ghibli's bonnet. We mix each colour from the paint code on the car.
Once the panels are on, we scan every control unit and repair each stored fault the scan shows. A road test follows, and we cure any wind noise or rattle from the repaired panels.

Tesla bars repairs to Model Y parts of ultra high-strength steel, above 800 MPa, unless the part's repair rules allow one. Honda never straightens the 1,500 MPa steel of the 2013 Accord, because it can crack. We replace these parts instead of straightening them.
Audi repairs aluminium bodies in a dedicated area with dedicated hand tools, so steel and aluminium do not cross-contaminate and corrode. Stellantis sands aluminium panels in a separate room from ferrous metals to prevent galvanic corrosion. We keep aluminium preparation apart from steel work and its grinding dust.
On the Model Y, Tesla keeps high-strength steel below 650 °C, heated twice at most or for under 90 seconds in total. Honda allows no heat during straightening on the 2013 Accord and replaces any part that was heated. We heat a part within its maker's limit or replace it.
Tesla replaces worn, broken or deformed fasteners and every one-time fastener removed during a Model 3 repair. Every one-time fastener we take out gets a new replacement, as does each fastener bent in the crash.
Porsche keeps protective film and decals away from the assistance sensors of the Taycan, Macan, Cayenne, 911 and 718. After a repair, we leave the sensor areas of the bumpers and the windscreen clear of film and decals.

Maserati warns Ghibli owners against washing in direct sunlight, because water drops focus the light and can damage the paint. For the XF, Jaguar adds that repeated automatic car washes can dull the paintwork.
Maserati warns Ghibli owners that the acidity of bird droppings is particularly corrosive. For the GranTurismo, it adds tree resin and tar to what comes off at once. We polish or refinish clear coat etched by droppings.
Maserati tells Ghibli owners never to polish matt paint and to wash it by hand. Mercedes-Benz rules out wash programmes with a hot wax finish on a matt E-Class W213. BMW Group warns that spot cleaning matt MINI Frozen Black paint with wax or polish leaves a gloss patch.

The UAE unified motor policy does not cover extra damage caused by driving a damaged car before it is repaired.

Yes. BMW starts a new calibration of the KAFAS camera on F-series and i3 models after a windscreen replacement. Audi calibrates the front camera of the A6 and A7, with their S and RS versions, after the same job. We fit the windscreen, and the maker's dealer calibrates the camera.
