A knock in corners
A knock while cornering comes from a worn CV joint, the constant velocity joint at each end of a driveshaft. Its balls drift over a pit worn into the joint track. We replace the worn joint.

A worn driveshaft or CV joint shows 6 signs. On the road, it can knock in corners, grind or vibrate more as speed rises, and leave grease on the shaft. A rear-wheel or four-wheel drive car adds a click at load change from the propshaft, and on 2 models a crack from its centre bearing.
A knock while cornering comes from a worn CV joint, the constant velocity joint at each end of a driveshaft. Its balls drift over a pit worn into the joint track. We replace the worn joint.
A grinding noise can come from too much rotational play between the CV joint and the shaft tube. We replace the joint, and the complete driveshaft where the tube carries the wear.
A vibration that grows stronger as the car goes faster can come from excessive play in the joints or a bent shaft. We fit a new joint for the play and a new driveshaft for a bent one.
Grease on the outside of a driveshaft is the mark of a torn, slipped or porous rubber boot. That grease belongs inside the joint. We fit a new boot with new clamps.
A click or knock as the car switches between pulling and slowing can point to play in the flex disc, the propshaft's rubber coupling. A harsh knock at gear changes can mean its rubber has hardened. We replace a flex disc with play or hardened rubber.
On a Porsche Cayenne (9PA, 92A) or a Volkswagen Touareg (7L), a worn propshaft centre bearing can cause cracking noises and harsh vibration. They come as the car speeds up or slows down. Its rubber can split with wear, and the propshaft then moves up and down at gear changes.
We remove the propshaft, inspect every joint and the flex disc for wear, and replace the worn parts with the centre bearing.
Our car driveshaft repair in Dubai covers the driveshafts and propshafts of front-wheel, rear-wheel and four-wheel drive cars:
We refer gearbox and axle rebuilds, exchange units and jobs that need the car maker's special tools to that maker's dealer.
Driveshaft failure in Dubai comes down to 6 causes. Age-related wear on the joints is among the most common causes of driveshaft damage. Defective boots, inferior grease and handling errors when a shaft is removed or fitted follow close behind it.
In August, the daily maximum at Dubai International Airport peaked at 48.8 °C over the 1991 to 2020 record. The station's 1981 to 2010 record shows rising sand on 17.7 days annually. Driveshafts sit in an exposed position, so harsh road and weather conditions can damage them early.
We repair the cause along with the damage, so a joint worn through a torn boot gets a new boot as well.
We repair the driveline to the car maker's figures. You feel the result from parking manoeuvres to motorway speeds.
CV joints pass torque to the wheels at a constant speed while the suspension moves. Sound joints keep the drive smooth over bumps and broken surfaces.
The outer joint carries torque through angles up to 52 degrees. A healthy outer joint lets you pull out of a tight parking space on full lock with steady drive.
A sealed boot holds the grease in place and keeps dirt and water out. Dirt and water can erode a joint over time, so a sealed joint keeps its surfaces.
A sound centre bearing holds the propshaft in position in the body and lets it move lengthwise. Its rubber limits the vibration passed into the car, and it keeps out the noise of shaft imbalance.
A flex disc without play passes the drive straight to the propshaft. A worn disc delays the drivetrain response between the pedal and the wheels.
Play in a worn flex disc overloads the universal joints and the centre bearing next to it. A new disc takes that extra load off them.
A driveshaft turns one wheel, and a propshaft carries drive along the length of a rear-wheel or four-wheel drive car. Each driveshaft has 2 CV joints. The inner joint plunges so the shaft length can change with suspension travel, and the outer joint bends with the steering.
A propshaft is built in 1, 2 or 3 pieces. Strength, stiffness, precision balance and low mass keep its noise and vibration down. Its joints take steep angles, length changes and, on all-terrain vehicles, high shock loads.
We repair both: the driveshafts of front-wheel drive cars, and the propshafts and driveshafts of rear-wheel and four-wheel drive cars.
Our driveshaft repair runs in 6 steps, from the opening drive to the closing one.
We drive the car through tight turns and listen for a knock or a grind. At higher speeds, we feel for vibration that builds with road speed. What we hear and feel picks the joint or shaft we then repair.
Each boot and clamp is checked for tears, slips and porous rubber, and the slip spline for radial movement. The fixed joints are checked through every steering angle. We replace any part that shows play or damage.
A complete check needs the driveshaft off the car. A sound joint moves smoothly with no bucking. Polished or cratered ball tracks or a broken cage mean a new joint, and a joint in doubt is replaced.
With a new flex disc, we inspect the guide bush, the fitting surfaces, the pin bores and the threads. Worn mating parts can leave a vibration in the shaft after a new disc goes in, so we renew them as well.
Half the grease goes into the joint and the rest into the boot. The boot rim sits in full contact with the joint and the shaft, and we let the trapped air out of the boot. Clamps on a thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) boot go on at 23 to 30 Nm.
Every bolt and nut goes to the torque the car maker specifies. A second drive on full lock and at speed checks that the knock, grind or vibration has gone.
Phone us or write on WhatsApp to book a driveshaft check, and say whether the noise comes in turns or at speed.
The cost of car driveshaft repair in Dubai depends on 4 factors. These are the part that failed, the state of the joint under a torn boot, the drivetrain layout and the parts the car maker sells. A boot, a joint and a complete shaft are 3 different jobs, and a propshaft adds its own parts.
A front-wheel drive car has driveshafts and no propshaft. A rear-wheel or four-wheel drive car adds a propshaft with a flex disc, a centre bearing and universal joints.
For a Porsche Cayenne (9PA, 92A) or a Volkswagen Touareg (7L), the propshaft centre bearing comes from the car maker with the complete propshaft. The maker does not supply it separately. We confirm on the lift which of these factors your car has.
Each method here protects the joint or shaft we fit:
A torn boot can point to a worn CV joint. We inspect the joint each time we change a boot, and replace a worn joint along with it.
High-performance joint grease withstands up to 160 °C for short periods, and standard joint grease up to 110 °C. The wrong grease can outgas and end in total joint failure. We pack each joint with the grease supplied for it.
We fit a new driveshaft nut every time, with a new circlip and new screws. The wheel-side joint gets new nuts and socket head screws, and a flex disc gets new fixing screws as the car maker states.
Rotating shafts are dangerous to anyone beneath them. We never work under a car while its engine runs.
Car makers fit TPE boots because they withstand service temperatures up to 140 °C. We replace a TPE boot with a TPE boot.
Each CV joint is built for its own bending angle. Before a new joint goes on the shaft, we check that its angle matches the joint it replaces.
A driveshaft in Dubai lasts longer when its owner keeps 4 habits. Inspect it at the car maker's interval, check it earlier in dust and heavy traffic, wash the underbody after sand and replace cracked rubber parts. Each habit catches damage to a boot or a rubber coupling before it spreads to a joint.
Kia and Hyundai set an inspection of the drive shafts, boots and propeller shaft every 30,000 km or 24 months in markets outside Europe. The interval applies to their 2025 models coded MQ4 and US4. We inspect the driveline at the distance or age your car's maker gives.
On the same 2 models, Kia and Hyundai bring that inspection forward for driving in heavy dust, sand or heavy traffic. For a car that works in those conditions, we inspect the boots and shafts sooner.
Kia advises owners of the model coded MQ4 to wash the underside of the car after off-road use. Kia also asks for shorter service gaps once the car has been through sand, mud or water.
On the model coded MQ4, Kia's check covers the propeller shaft rubber coupling and the centre bearing rubber for cracks and deterioration. A flex disc needs no replacement at a fixed distance. We replace these rubber parts on their condition, at any kilometre reading.

Yes. A new boot is enough when the joint passes its inspection. A torn boot can be the sign of a worn joint, so the joint is checked each time the boot comes off. The new boot goes on with fresh grease and new clamps.
A worn flex disc is one cause on rear-wheel and four-wheel drive cars. All the engine's torque passes through the flex disc. Wear in its rubber shows as vibration and shocks in the drivetrain that grow under acceleration. A new flex disc removes that cause.
No. We replace the failed part: a boot, a CV joint, a flex disc, a centre bearing or a universal joint. A complete driveshaft goes in when the shaft itself is bent.
The RTA's light-vehicle periodic test checks by sight the axles, wheels, tyres, suspension, and the chassis or frame with its attachments. A bent or loose drive shaft and worn CV or universal joints are fail items in the RTA heavy-vehicle test.
