A warning light that stays on
On the Kia model coded MQ4, the AWD warning light shows for about 3 seconds at start-up and then goes out. A light that stays on signals an AWD malfunction.
On the Hyundai model coded US4, a 4WD light that stays on can point to a 4WD system malfunction. We fix the sensor, wiring or actuator fault behind the light.

A fault message and limited gears
A Range Rover of the L405 generation displays a warning message when it detects a transmission system fault. The car can then be left with limited gears.
We trace the fault through the gearbox and the transfer box, then repair it, or refer a software fix to a Land Rover dealer.

Noise or vibration in corners
On the Hyundai model coded US4, cornering on a normal road in 4WD LOCK mode can cause mechanical noise or vibration. On the Kia model coded MQ4, TERRAIN mode on a normal road does the same.
Both makers state that the noise stops once the mode is released. Noise that remains after the release comes from elsewhere, and we fix its tyre, oil or transfer case source.

An overheat warning in sand
Hard driving in mud or sand can overheat the transmission on the Kia model coded MQ4. The display then shows "Transmission Hot! Park with engine on", and the car cools in P with the engine running.
Kia calls for a workshop check when the warning keeps blinking. We test the transmission and AWD circuits, then fix what triggers the warning.

Shocks after leaving an off-road mode
Turning off TERRAIN mode on the Kia model coded MQ4 can bring small shocks. Kia treats them as normal until the front and rear traction forces release.
Shocks that carry on in DRIVE mode are not part of that release. We repair the transfer case or tyre fault that causes them.
