What We Do for Your Subaru

The seven jobs Subaru owners book most, each with its own page. Open the full details below for everything else we do on the Subaru range.

What it covers

Subaru services we offer, system by system

Our Subaru work runs system by system below, opening with the engine oil and closing with the electrics.

Subaru oil change

Each oil change brings a new filter, and we refill to Subaru's grade and fill for that engine. For the 2025 Outback, Subaru recommends 0W-20, with ILSAC GF-5 or GF-6A and ACEA A3 or A5 as the alternative standards. Its fill with the filter is 4.2 litres for the 2.5 litre engine and 4.5 litres for the 2.4 litre turbo.

A 2026 Forester e-BOXER takes 4.2 litres of 0W-20, 0W-30, 5W-20 or 5W-30. The second-generation BRZ holds 5.0 litres, with 0W-20 as its recommended grade.

Subaru engine repair

A leak, misfire or turbo fault is tracked back to the part that caused it, and we fit a replacement.

The 2022 Impreza manual lists the FB16 1.6 litre and FB20 2.0 litre boxers. The 2025 Outback runs the FB25 2.5 litre or the FA24 2.4 litre turbo.

Subaru's Middle East sheet for the 2020 WRX, archived in 2020, lists a 1,998 cc direct-injection turbo of 197 kW.

Subaru CVT and transmission repair

A Lineartronic CVT or manual gearbox that judders, slips or leaks gets our inspection, and we renew the seal or external part at fault.

Subaru's Middle East sheets list Lineartronic for the 2019 Forester and XV (archived in 2019) and the 2018 Outback (archived in 2018). The 2025 Outback manual names TR580 CVT types. Its 2.4 litre car holds 11.9 litres of CVT fluid, and Subaru leaves the fluid type to its dealers.

The 2020 Middle East WRX pairs its turbo with a 6-speed manual or Sport Lineartronic. The 2020 BRZ (archived in 2019) and 2022 BRZ (archived in 2023) come with a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic.

Subaru AWD and differential repair

Subaru's Symmetrical AWD lays out the drivetrain symmetrically, in line with a boxer engine mounted lengthwise. The Middle East 2019 Forester and XV use Active Torque Split AWD (archived in 2019).

We check the front and rear differential oil, the drive shafts and the axle boots, then replace a worn boot, joint or seal.

Subaru suspension repair

Subaru's Middle East sheets give the 2019 Forester and XV (archived in 2019) MacPherson struts at the front and double wishbones at the rear. The 2018 Outback (archived in 2018) and 2022 BRZ (archived in 2023) share that layout. The 2020 WRX STI uses inverted MacPherson struts at the front (archived in 2020).

Our workshop replaces worn struts, bushes, stabiliser links and wheel bearings.

Subaru brake repair

We renew pads, discs and callipers. The refill uses DOT 3 or DOT 4 brake fluid, the 2 types the 2025 Outback manual lists.

Ventilated discs sit at both ends of the Middle East 2019 Forester and XV (archived in 2019). The 2022 BRZ uses 16 inch front and 15 inch rear ventilated discs (archived in 2023). A 2020 WRX STI stops with 6-piston front and dual-piston rear callipers (archived in 2020).

The 2019 Forester for the Middle East adds an electronic parking brake. Its motor and connector are part of our check on each rear brake job.

Subaru AC repair

The 2025 Outback and second-generation BRZ manuals say the air conditioning runs on R-1234yf or R-134a, named on the air conditioner label. Our technicians read that label first. Then we find the leak, replace the faulty hose, condenser or compressor, and recharge with the refrigerant it names.

Subaru battery replacement

Battery health and alternator output are measured first, and we then fit the size the car's manual names.

The 2025 Outback takes a Q-85, and its alternator gives 150 A on the 2.5 litre and 190 A on the 2.4 litre. A second-generation BRZ uses a 55D23L in left-hand drive and a 55D23R in right-hand drive.

A 2026 Forester or Crosstrek e-BOXER carries 2 batteries at 12 V: a 75D23L auxiliary and an N-55R engine restart battery. Subaru calls the restart unit a special high-performance battery, to be replaced with a SUBARU battery or an equivalent made for e-BOXER cars.

Subaru electrical repair

On a warning light, dead circuit or charging fault, we begin at the stored code and follow the wiring to the faulty part. That connector, wire or module gets our repair or a new part.

A yellow Auto Start Stop warning light on a 2025 Outback marks a possible fault in that system. After a battery change, Subaru notes the same system can take a while to work again.

What we see

What are the common Subaru faults?

The common Subaru faults behind a Subaru bulletin or a GCC recall are FB engine oil use and 2 CVT conditions. Recalls in Qatar add the PCV valve, the electronic parking brake and the headlight and wiper wiring. Each fault below carries its models and the fix we carry out.

  • FB engine oil use: Subaru has acknowledged oil consumption on the 2.5 litre FB in the Forester, Legacy and Outback. The 2.0 litre FB in the Impreza and XV Crosstrek is covered as well. We measure the oil use and repair any leak, and a Subaru dealer carries out Subaru's short block replacement.
  • False CVT warning: air bubbles in TR580 and TR690 CVT fluid can set a false DTC P0841 or light the AT Temp lamp. Subaru redesigned the control valve to stop it. We read the code and check the fluid level and condition, and a Subaru dealer fits the redesigned valve.
  • CVT chain slip: Subaru describes 3 main forms of chain slip on the TR580 and TR690. The TR690 in Legacy, Outback and automatic WRX models can judder, shudder or hesitate. Our check reads the codes and includes a road test, and a CVT showing Subaru's chain slip pattern goes to a Subaru dealer for replacement.
  • PCV valve: in 2020, Qatar's Ministry of Commerce and Industry recalled Impreza and XV 2017 to 2019 models. The PCV valve can separate and cut engine power. We check the VIN against the recall, and a Subaru dealer carries out the repair.
  • Electronic parking brake: in 2022, Qatar's Ministry of Commerce and Industry recalled Impreza, XV and Legacy 2015 to 2019 models over a faulty connector. A 2016 recall by Qatar's Ministry of Economy and Commerce covered the 2015 Legacy, whose parking brake motor parts can overheat. We test the parking brake, and a Subaru dealer takes any open recall.
  • Headlight and wiper wiring: in 2016, Qatar's Ministry of Economy and Commerce recalled Impreza 2012 to 2014 and Forester 2013 to 2014 models. A wiring defect can cut the headlights and wipers. A Subaru dealer carries out the open recall, and we repair any other fault we find in that circuit.
Every model

Subaru models we look after

We look after the Subaru lines below, with Subaru's own type codes for 7 of them:

  • Impreza (GT2, GK7, GU7)
  • XV (GT7, GTE)
  • Crosstrek (GUE, GUF)
  • Forester (SJ5, SK9, SKE, SK5, SLG)
  • Outback
  • Legacy (BS9, BT5)
  • WRX (VAG, VBH)
  • WRX STI
  • BRZ (ZC6)

Subaru announced the Subaru Global Platform for all its next vehicles, starting with the Impreza due in 2016. The 2018 Middle East Outback came as the 2.5i of 2,498 cc and 129 kW (archived in 2018). Its 3.6R-S had a 6-cylinder of 3,630 cc and 191 kW.

The rear-wheel-drive BRZ had a 1,998 cc boxer of 147 kW in 2020 (archived in 2019). The 2022 car moved to a 2.4 litre D-4S boxer of 2,387 cc and 174 kW (archived in 2023).

In Dubai conditions

What service schedule does Subaru set for a car in Dubai?

Subaru's schedule in the 2025 Outback manual counts months and kilometres, and each item falls due at whichever limit arrives first. The table repeats after 120,000 km or 96 months, and it changes the engine oil and filter every 15,000 km or every 12 months. Subaru calls the intervals minimal and notes that country rules differ.

On the 2025 Outback, the centre display holds reminders for the engine oil, oil filter, tyres and maintenance schedule. Each one is set by date or by distance, and a maintenance notification appears on the meter display as the item nears its due point.

Longer items follow the same table. SUBARU SUPER COOLANT is first replaced at 132 months or 220,000 km, then every 72 months or 120,000 km. The spark plugs go at 105,000 km, the air cleaner at 45,000 km, and the brake fluid 4 times across the 96 months.

Each Subaru service of ours covers what the table lists for that mileage and age, and we reset the reminders afterwards.

How it works

How we handle Subaru service and repair at Royal Prince Auto Care

The work on a Subaru follows 4 steps in our DIP 2 workshop.

Confirm the model, engine and gearbox

The type code, engine and gearbox come first, because the parts list changes with each of them.

Read the fault memory

We scan all control units and log every stored code, warning light and message on the display.

Test and replace the failed part

Behind each stored code sits a part, which we test before replacing it. Schedule items that fall due are carried out alongside the repair.

Road-test and clear the codes

A road test confirms the repair, followed by a second scan that clears the codes left in memory.

Why Royal Prince

Why choose Royal Prince Auto Care for Subaru service and repair in Dubai

What follows sets our Subaru service and repair apart.

Oil viscosity for the heat

Subaru's 2025 Outback manual says hot weather calls for a higher-viscosity oil. Dubai airport's mean daily maximum for August, 1991 to 2020, is 41.9 °C. We follow that hot-weather guidance when we choose the oil.

Start-stop battery kept to type

A 2022 Impreza takes a 75D23L without Auto Start Stop and a Q-85 with it. We fit the type that matches the car's system, so a start-stop Impreza keeps its Q-85.

Alignment and tyre pressures

Wheel alignment follows every repair of ours that changes the suspension geometry. A Middle East 2025 Outback on 225/60R18 tyres then gets Subaru's 230 kPa front and 220 kPa rear.

Faults checked against Subaru bulletins

A CVT warning or high oil use is compared with Subaru's own bulletins for that engine or gearbox. We repair any leak or fluid fault we find, and a Subaru dealer carries out the bulletin fix.

Dusty-road servicing

The 1981 to 2010 record at Dubai airport counts 17.7 rising-sand days annually. On dusty roads, the 2025 Outback schedule inspects the brakes, axle boots, steering and suspension every 15,000 km or every 12 months. That is the rate we apply to a desert-driven Subaru, renewing its air and cabin filters ahead of the standard interval.

Work we pass to a Subaru dealer

High-voltage work on e-BOXER models, EyeSight camera calibration and recall repairs go to a Subaru dealer. Engine and CVT rebuilds or replacements, and jobs that call for Subaru's special tools, are passed on as well. Every other job on the car is done here.

FAQs

Subaru questions, answered

What decides the cost of Subaru service and repair in Dubai?

The cost of Subaru service and repair follows the schedule items that are due, the engine and gearbox type, and the worn parts we find. An e-BOXER, a turbo or a manual car each changes the work.

Is the CVT fluid changed at every Subaru service?

No. The 2025 Outback schedule lists the CVT fluid for inspection, with a change every 45,000 km when the car tows a trailer. We inspect the fluid at each scheduled inspection and change it at that rate on a Subaru that tows.

Do you service Subaru e-BOXER models?

Yes. The 2026 Forester and Crosstrek e-BOXER pair a 118.4 V lithium-ion battery with the FB20 2.0 litre engine. We service everything outside that high-voltage system, and a Subaru dealer handles the high-voltage side.

Do you service the Subaru WRX STI?

Yes. Subaru's 2020 Middle East sheet, archived in 2020, gives the WRX STI a 2,457 cc high-boost turbo of 221 kW with port injection. It drives through a 6-speed manual and Driver's Control Centre Differential AWD, and we service and repair all 3.

Do you carry out Subaru recall repairs?

No. In 2024, Qatar's Ministry of Commerce and Industry recalled WRX and STI 2018 to 2021 models over a spare tyre below Subaru's specification. Our check finds any open GCC recall on the VIN, and a Subaru dealer then does that work.
