A shaking steering wheel
A steering wheel that shakes at speed comes from a fault in the wheels, the tyres, the steering or the suspension. We find the part at fault and balance the wheel or replace the worn joint.

A used car test drive shows 6 warning signs. Three come from the chassis: a shaking steering wheel, a pull to one side, and brake noise or a changed pedal. The other 3 are a new exhaust sound or fume smell, fluid under the car, and a misfire or loss of power.
A steering wheel that shakes at speed comes from a fault in the wheels, the tyres, the steering or the suspension. We find the part at fault and balance the wheel or replace the worn joint.
A car that drifts on a smooth, level road, or pulls as it stops, has a tyre, alignment, suspension or brake fault. We trace the cause, then set the alignment or replace the part that drags.
An unusual sound when stopping, longer pedal travel or a hard-to-push pedal each mark a brake fault. We measure the pads and discs against their wear limits and replace the ones below them.
A change in the exhaust note, or a smell of fumes inside the cabin, marks an exhaust leak. We locate the leak and replace the cracked pipe, the failed gasket or the silencer.
Water dripping from the air conditioning during or after use is normal. Oil, coolant or gearbox fluid on the ground is a leak. We trace the leak to its seal, gasket or hose and replace that part.
A misfire, weak pulling or higher fuel use leads back to the ignition or the air supply. Our technicians find the failing spark plug, coil or filter and replace it.
Our inspection covers the car, its history and its papers:
We record each finding with the part at fault and the repair it needs. Every repair on that record can be done at our workshop once the car is yours.
Hidden faults on a used car in Dubai come from 6 causes: dust, heat, brake fluid moisture, flood water, worn spark plugs and missed maintenance.
Dubai's August mean daily maximum is 41.9 °C, and the airport station logs rising sand on 17.7 days annually. That heat and sand load the battery and the air filter of every car driven here.
We look for each of these causes on every car we inspect. Once you buy the car, we repair what we find.
Royal Prince Auto Care carries out a car pre purchase inspection in Dubai on every make we service. A buyer gets these results:
The vehicle identification number (VIN) is the number used to register a car and in every legal matter of its ownership. A car is sold in Dubai as the model and type in its registration documents. A matched VIN means you buy the car those papers describe.
Under the RTA's 2013 test rules, a failed car leaves its owner 30 days to repair the defects. Without a valid test certificate, the registration cannot be renewed. Knowing the defects first keeps the sale moving.
A business selling a used car in the UAE must state its condition clearly and write that condition into the contract or invoice. Our findings give you a checklist to compare with that statement.
BMW Service Inclusive in the Middle East passes to the new owner when the car is sold before its limits run out. It applies when the car was serviced at the intervals the car itself indicates.
Kia makes the MQ4 owner responsible for keeping service records, which prove compliance with its servicing requirements. A checked record lets you continue that history from the day you buy.
An imported used car needs a MoIAT product status statement confirming it can be registered and used in the UAE. A car whose customs card does not show Gulf specification compliance also needs a MoIAT conformity document for the transfer.
No. The RTA test checks that a used car is roadworthy: its identification, emissions, brakes, steering play, glass, mirrors, wipers, washers and headlamps. It also covers the axles, wheels, tyres, suspension, bodywork, seat and battery mounting, horn, warning triangle and seat belts.
Service records and flood history are not on that list. The RTA advises buyers to have a used car inspected by an independent vehicle inspector and to test drive it before deciding.
Our car pre purchase inspection covers the RTA list and the records, fluids and history it leaves out.
A used car in Dubai needs 5 things before its ownership transfers. They are Emirates IDs for buyer and seller, electronic insurance, an electronic technical inspection, a mortgage release where one exists, and paid fines. On the RTA's 2026 list, the fines cover Dubai and the other emirates, plus any non-renewal fine on an expired registration.
The RTA test certificate is valid for 30 days, and the transfer is completed inside that period. The online Sale and Purchase Agreement is valid for 14 days, and any edit after signing voids it. Ownership moves to the buyer once the seller hands in the plates.
We recheck any defect the seller repairs before you sign the agreement.
Our inspection runs in 6 steps, from the papers to the road.
We compare the VIN on the car with the registration documents. Kia, for one, punches the VIN of the MQ4 into the floor under the front right seat.
We set the stamps and invoices against the maker's schedule for that model, engine and market. Each overdue item goes on the list for the first service under your ownership.
We pull the stored fault codes from the engine, gearbox, brake, airbag and body control units. A stored code leads us to the part we then test and replace.
We raise the car to look for leaks, impact damage, corrosion and flood marks. Each leak or flood mark we find goes on the inspection record.
We work through each item on the RTA test list and repair the ones that fail. We read the date code on every tyre, the spare included, because the full code can sit on one sidewall alone. A car tyre in the UAE is valid for a maximum of 5 years from its date of manufacture, regardless of its appearance.
A drive through traffic and at highway speed, with the air conditioning on, shows the faults a stationary check misses. We add each one to the repair record.
Book a pre-purchase inspection by phone or WhatsApp, and send the make, model and mileage of the car.
The cost of a vehicle inspection in Dubai depends on 4 factors: the drivetrain, the engine type, the mileage and the repairs the inspection finds. An AWD car adds the rear differential and transfer case to the check. A hybrid or electric car adds a high-voltage battery test at the maker's dealer.
Mileage sets which items are due: Kia inspects the rear differential oil of an AWD MQ4 at 60,000 km or 48 months. We add the AWD and hybrid checks on cars that carry those systems.
Our inspection works from the maker's own schedule and the RTA's own test list.
Kia's schedule for the G2.5 petrol MQ4 in the Middle East changes the oil every 10,000 km or 12 months. The same schedule replaces the engine air filter at every 15,000 km or 12-month visit. We judge a record against the line for the car's own market.
Outside Europe, Kia replaces the petrol MQ4 spark plugs at 150,000 km and its coolant first at 180,000 km. The D2.2 diesel MQ4 has its timing belt, water pump, tensioner and idler replaced together at 240,000 km. We carry out any of these jobs the record lacks once the car is yours.
Kia tells MQ4 owners to clean around filler plugs, drain plugs and dipsticks before a check, especially in dusty or sandy areas. We clean each one before we open or pull it.
Kia inspects the 12 V battery of a Middle East MQ4 every 10,000 km or 6 months, against every 30,000 km in other markets. We test the battery on every car we inspect and replace a weak one after purchase.
Outside Australia and New Zealand, Kia replaces the MQ4 brake fluid every 45,000 km or 36 months. We test the fluid for water and replace fluid that fails.
We repair what the inspection finds, on every make we service, at our workshop in Dubai Investment Park 2.
A used car stays sound in Dubai with 4 habits: the severe schedule, the maker's oil grade, checks between services and a check before summer. The severe schedule applies when the car's use fits it. Kia lists dusty roads, heavy dust, heavy traffic and stop-and-go driving as MQ4 severe conditions.
Kia puts a car used in any severe condition on its severe schedule. For the G2.5 petrol MQ4 in the Middle East, that means oil and filter every 5,000 km or 6 months. We service the car to that schedule when its use fits.
Kia specifies SAE 0W-30, ACEA C2 for the G2.5 MQ4 in the Middle East, where other markets take 0W-20. A lower-grade mineral or semi-synthetic oil moves the car to the severe schedule. We fill the grade the maker lists.
Hyundai tells US4 owners in the Middle East to check the oil level and look for leaks every 500 km or before a long trip. Kia asks MQ4 owners to check the coolant, the washer fluid and the tyres at each fuel stop. We correct what these checks turn up.
The RTA asks drivers to check oil and coolant levels, especially in summer. It also asks them to keep tyres in good condition to avoid blowouts in high temperatures. We check the cooling system, the tyres and the brakes before the hot months.

Yes. We inspect the body, brakes, tyres, suspension, 12 V system and documents of a hybrid or electric car as on any other car. Porsche includes the high-voltage battery in its pre-owned check of electric and plug-in hybrid cars in the Middle East. We refer that battery test to the maker's dealer.
No. The RTA Technical Vehicle Status Report shows insurance validity and ownership history, and it leaves out accident data. It can also miss maintenance records, recall information and odometer readings. The owner of the car must agree before its data is disclosed.
Yes. Any change of ownership in Dubai requires an RTA technical inspection. The rule also covers a new private car bought from a local dealer, even in the period it renews without inspection.
A tyre's age is in the last 4 digits of its DOT code. The first 2 digits give the week of manufacture, so 0517 marks a tyre made in week 5 of 2017.
