A soft or sinking brake pedal
A pedal that feels soft, travels further or brakes less during and after heavy use signals water in the brake fluid. We replace the brake fluid with the grade the maker specifies, DOT 4 on the MQ4.

A car due a major service gives 6 signs. The driver notices a soft brake pedal, misfires and higher fuel use, hard starting, steering vibration, a changed exhaust note and fluid under the car. Each sign leads back to an item on the maker's longer-interval list.
A pedal that feels soft, travels further or brakes less during and after heavy use signals water in the brake fluid. We replace the brake fluid with the grade the maker specifies, DOT 4 on the MQ4.
An engine that misfires, loses pull or burns more fuel signals worn spark plugs or a clogged engine air filter. We replace whichever of the 2 the checks show is worn.
Surging, a loss of power or hard starting signals a fuel supply fault. Kia's MQ4 petrol engines carry a lifetime fuel filter inside the tank, and a clogged D2.2 diesel filter can limit road speed. We inspect the filter and renew it where it restricts the fuel flow.
A shake at the steering wheel, or a drift to one side under braking, signals a worn wheel, tyre, steering joint or brake part. We check each one and renew the part at fault.
A louder or different exhaust sound, or the smell of exhaust fumes in the cabin, signals a leak in the exhaust system. We find the leaking joint or section and replace it.
Kia treats dripping AC condensate as normal, during or after use. Oil, coolant or brake fluid under the car comes from a leaking hose, seal or connection. We locate the leaking part and renew it.
Our major car service covers the items a maker schedules at longer intervals, together with the checks due at every visit:
The list changes with the engine and drivetrain: spark plugs belong to petrol engines, and axle oils to all-wheel-drive cars. We service each car from the items its own maker schedules.
Service parts in Dubai wear out for 6 reasons: brake fluid moisture, plug erosion, intake dust, hot hoses, belt wear and battery heat. Dubai's sand reaches the engine air filter, and its summer heat ages the 12 V battery.
At Dubai's airport station, August is the peak month, with its mean daily maximum at 41.9 °C. Sand rises on 17.7 days in the average 12 months there. Kia's MQ4 schedule gives the Middle East its own battery line: an inspection every 10,000 km or 6 months.
We inspect the hoses, belts and 12 V battery at every major service, and renew any part showing these signs.
We carry out each major car service in Dubai to the maker's schedule, which brings the driver these results.
New brake fluid keeps the pedal firm and the braking force steady during and after heavy braking.
New spark plugs cut misfires, bring back lost power, improve fuel economy and lower emissions.
A clean air filter keeps dirt away from the engine's internal parts, which protects engine life and fuel use.
Kia warns that a non-specified automatic transmission fluid can cause malfunction and failure. The fluid the maker specifies keeps the gearbox clear of that risk.
The RTA periodic test, which a car passes to renew its registration, checks the brakes, steering play, wipers, headlamps, suspension, tyres, wheels and axles. We inspect those items during the service and repair any that fall short.
Kia treats service records as the owner's proof of meeting its maintenance requirements. We log each item we replace or inspect, so the history has no gaps.
Longer-interval service items fall due at the distances and ages each maker sets for its model, engine and market. For markets outside Europe, the MQ4 schedule from Kia sets a visit at every 15,000 km or 12 months. Brake fluid is inspected at the first 2 visits, and the third visit, 45,000 km or 36 months, replaces it.
MQ4 coolant lasts 180,000 km or 120 months to its first change, and 30,000 km or 24 months between later changes. Its G2.5 and G3.5 petrol engines take new spark plugs every 150,000 km on unleaded fuel.
At every second visit, Kia inspects the MQ4's exhaust system, brake discs and pads, brake lines and drive shafts, and the G2.5 drive belts. The fourth visit, 60,000 km or 48 months, replaces the petrol fuel tank air filter and inspects the rear differential oil on all-wheel-drive versions.
Other makers set their own items and distances, and a BMW indicates its service intervals itself. We keep to each maker's figures for the car's model and engine.
A major car service in Dubai follows the severe schedule when the car meets the maker's severe conditions. For the MQ4, Kia lists dusty or unpaved roads, heavy dust, heavy traffic, stop-and-go driving and high-speed driving. A car used in any of them moves to the severe schedule.
On the MQ4, severe use brings the cabin filter and spark plug changes forward. All-wheel-drive versions also have the oils in their rear differential and transfer case replaced every 120,000 km.
Outside Europe, Hyundai brings forward the air filter, cabin filter, steering and disc brake work on the Tucson NX4 in heavy dust. We apply the severe schedule when the car's use matches any listed condition.
Our workshop takes every major service through these steps.
We note the model code, engine, distance and age, and find the matching visit in the maker's schedule. That visit number decides which longer-interval items fall due.
Kia warns that dirt and grit around a filler plug, drain plug or dipstick can enter the engine and damage it. We wipe each area clean before we open it, which matters most on cars driven in sand.
Old engine oil comes out and a fresh oil filter goes on, in the oil grade and fill quantity on the maker's list. We change the coolant when its distance or age falls due.
We fit new spark plugs in the heat range the maker specifies, with the engine cold. Each coil boot and plug insulator is wiped with a soft cloth before assembly, so no dirt reaches the insulator.
We check the pads for wear, the discs for run-out, the calipers for leaks and the brake hoses for chafing or cracks. With the engine off, the steering is checked for excess play and the drive shaft boots for cracks. We replace any worn or damaged part and repack the grease where a boot has failed.
We change the automatic transmission fluid and the axle oils when the schedule lists them. Kia counts darker automatic transmission fluid as normal with use, so colour alone never decides a change.

The cost of a major car service in Dubai follows 5 factors. They cover the visit number, the normal or severe schedule, the engine type, the drivetrain and the maker's fluid specifications. Each factor changes the items the visit covers.
A diesel with a timing belt system, or an all-wheel-drive model with axle oils, adds items to the list. We price the service from the items due on the car's schedule.
Each step of our method uses the maker's figures for the car.
On the Kia MQ4 D2.2 diesel, we renew the timing belt with its water pump, idler and tensioner in one job at 240,000 km. Kia lists the 4 parts as one system, and inspects the belt itself every 120,000 km.
We check that each hose runs clear of heat sources, sharp edges and moving parts, and that every clamp is secure. A hose that shows deterioration is replaced straight away.
We check the suspension connections for looseness or damage and retighten them to the specified torque.
On all-wheel-drive versions of the MQ4, we check the propeller shaft, its boots, clamps, rubber coupling and centre bearing rubber. A cracked or damaged part is replaced.
The radiator, coolant reservoir, hoses and connections are each checked for leaks and damage, and we replace any damaged part.
We open the cooling system with the engine cold, because a hot system can spray scalding coolant and steam under pressure. On the Kia MQ4 diesel, whose piezo injectors run at up to 200 V, injection work starts 30 seconds after shut-off at the earliest.
An owner protects a car between major services in Dubai through 4 habits. They are Kia's checks each 12 months, a summer oil and coolant check, soft water for coolant and a fluid change after flood water. Each one guards an item the major service renews.
Kia asks MQ4 owners to clean the battery and its terminals at least once every 12 months. The same round covers the brake fluid level and the air conditioning.
Make a quick inspection before setting off. In summer, include the engine oil and radiator coolant levels, as engine temperatures can rise to extreme levels.
Kia tells MQ4 owners to use deionised or soft water when adding coolant, and never to mix hard water into the factory fill. An improper mixture can cause serious engine damage.
Kia calls for differential, transfer case and transmission fluid changes whenever the car has stood submerged in water. We change all 3 when a car comes in after a flood.

No. The maker schedules we work from use neither major service nor minor service. Kia's MQ4 schedule, for example, replaces the air and cabin filters at every Middle East visit and sets longer intervals for brake fluid and coolant. A major car service covers those longer-interval items, and our car minor service page covers the every-visit work.
The maker schedules we follow set no single distance for a major service. Each schedule lists its own items, distances and ages, and severe use brings items forward. We read the schedule that matches your car's model code, engine and market, so the timing follows its own distance and visit number.
No. On Kia's MQ4 G2.5 petrol, the automatic transmission fluid needs no check and no service in normal use. Under severe use, Kia replaces it every 90,000 km. We change it when the car's own schedule lists it.
Yes. Kia allows MQ4 spark plugs to be replaced before their interval, for convenience, when other items are being serviced. We fit them early in the same service when the owner asks.
