An oil level that keeps falling

Oil escaping from the outside of an engine drops the level, leaves an oily film with dirt stuck to it and marks the floor below. We degrease the engine, find the gasket or seal that weeps and replace it.

An oil pressure warning on the dash

On a 2024 Kia coded MQ4, too little engine oil lights the oil pressure warning. Its engines other than the Smartstream G2.5 also cut power to protect themselves. We read the fault codes, refill the oil and replace the seal or gasket it escaped through.

Coolant that keeps going down

Hyundai links a serious coolant loss on the Tucson NX4 to a leak and asks for an inspection when the tank keeps needing coolant. We find the point where the coolant escapes and fit a new hose, cap or seal there.

Coolant drips under the car

Coolant can drip from the radiator, its hoses or the water pump. A cracked radiator lets its coolant out, and a failing pump can lose coolant too. We replace a cracked radiator and fit a new cap with it, or renew the leaking pump.

A soft brake pedal

A pedal that feels spongy or sinks almost to the floor can mean the brakes are short of fluid or have air in the lines. On a Tucson NX4, Hyundai adds that a brake reservoir that keeps needing fluid can point to a leak in the brake or clutch system. We replace the leaking hose, pipe or caliper seal.

Red or darkened oil under the car

Automatic transmission fluid in a Tucson NX4 is red when new and turns darker with driving, so a leak leaves a red or dark spot. Underfilling or overfilling a transmission can damage it. We replace the leaking seal, pan gasket or cooler line and set the fluid level to the maker's figure.

Coolant that resists boiling

Held shut, the cooling circuit keeps 1.0 bar to 1.5 bar of pressure. That pressure moves the coolant's boiling point up from 100 °C into the 115 °C to 130 °C band.

An engine that keeps its oil

Oil lost through a leak lets the engine overheat slowly as the level falls. An engine that runs out of oil ends in bearing knock and piston seizure, which a sealed engine avoids.

A firm brake pedal

Brake fluid cannot be compressed, so a full and sealed system carries your pedal force straight to the calipers. The pedal then stays firm under your foot.

Gear changes as designed

Transmission oil to the maker's specification keeps the shift quality the gearbox was built for. The wrong oil can worsen the shifting and can end in transmission failure.

Less fire risk in summer

Oil and fuel leaks rank among the maintenance faults behind summer vehicle fires in the UAE. In summer heat, an engine can overheat and then catch fire.

Fluids kept out of the ground

Coolant must not reach the groundwater or pass through an oil separator. We keep drained coolant in its own container, apart from waste oil, for separate disposal.

Record where the car drips

We ask where the spot appears under the parked car, how far it spreads overnight and which warning light you have seen.

Clean and check each fluid level

We clean around each filler, drain plug and dipstick before we read the levels. Kia calls this step especially important in dusty or sandy areas, on a 2024 Kia coded MQ4.

Inspect from below and above

With the car up on a lift, we search the underside for oil and fluid traces, then repeat the search from above, under the bonnet.

Pressure-test the cooling system

We raise the coolant circuit to over 1 bar with a hand pump and watch the gauge, where a drop in pressure shows a leak. A tracer dye added in advance marks a leak that is hard to find.

Replace the leaking seal or part

We fit a PTFE shaft seal dry, with no grease or oil on its lip or on the shaft. Its lip goes onto a fresh track, away from the groove the old seal ran in.

Refill, bleed and recheck

We refill the circuit and purge trapped air from the coolant or the brake lines. The engine then runs warm, and we check every joint we touched for tightness.

Radiators replaced, not welded

We replace a leaking aluminium radiator instead of welding it. Welding aluminium is difficult, and the weld can block the narrow ducts inside.

Pump changes on proof

Coolant traces at a water pump's relief bore are not on their own a clear sign of a failed pump. We replace the pump when the coolant loss is traced to its seal.

A cap tested with the system

A faulty valve in the cap can push the pressure up until the expansion tank cracks. We pressurise the cap on its own until it opens, and renew a cap that opens at the wrong pressure.

Oil kept off the brakes

Brake pads, discs and calipers that oil or grease has reached count as contaminated parts to replace. We renew any contaminated brake part together with the leaking seal.
