A weak Maserati battery shows 6 signs. They are the warning light, a battery saving message, Start&Stop that stays off, a parking brake message, low voltage and repeat jump starts. The warning light also covers a charging fault, so we test the battery and the charging circuit before we replace a part.
A 2024 Ghibli or 2025 Grecale has a cluster warning light that reports a fault in the recharge circuit or a low battery charge. That circuit charges the battery when the car is moving. We find which of the two has failed, then replace the battery or repair the charging fault.
A 2025 Grecale, Grecale Folgore or GranTurismo Folgore with a battery charge below optimal shows a Battery saving active message. Selected systems then run at reduced power, and on the Grecale the air conditioning can switch off after a key cycle. We recharge the battery, test it, and fit a new one when it fails.
Start&Stop on a 2024 Ghibli, Levante or Quattroporte, or a 2025 Grecale, stays off while the battery charge sits below its safety value. The 12 V battery in a Maserati sits in the boot on the Ghibli, Quattroporte, Levante, Grecale and GranTurismo. The MC20 and the 2 Folgore models carry it at the front. On the Ghibli, Grecale and GranTurismo, remote posts in the engine compartment take the jump leads.
A 2024 Ghibli, Quattroporte or Levante carries it on the inner right side of the boot, under the floor. A 2025 Grecale has it on the inner central side of the boot. The MC20 carries it behind the right side cover of the front compartment.
A 2025 Grecale Folgore holds its 12 V battery in the front electric motor compartment. A 2025 GranTurismo Folgore keeps it under a cover at the upper right of the bonnet area.
The 2024 Ghibli and the 2025 Grecale, GranTurismo and MC20 use a vented battery with a vent hose. We replace a vented battery with a vented one.
A Maserati MHEV adds a 48 V lithium-ion battery to its 12 V battery, and a Folgore adds a high-voltage traction battery. On a GranTurismo Folgore, the 12 V battery still powers the lights, wipers, restraint systems and sound system. We keep to the 12 V side and refer high-voltage battery work to a Maserati dealer.
The 48 V battery of a 2024 Ghibli or Levante MHEV needs no maintenance, and Maserati leaves any work on it to its service network. Maserati's 48 V diagnosis on the Ghibli, Levante and Grecale includes a check that the battery cooling system works.
The Grecale Folgore runs a 400 V, 105 kWh traction battery, and the GranTurismo Folgore an 800 V, 92.5 kWh one. On both, an Auxiliary Power Module (APM) draws on the traction battery to recharge the 12 V battery. A 2025 Grecale Folgore with a flat 12 V battery cannot charge its traction battery until a jump start revives the 12 V side.

On a dead battery, Maserati first checks for a light switch left at PARK or LOW and for trackers in the diagnostic socket. On a Ghibli or Quattroporte, the ceiling light rheostat comes next. A telematics box can draw extra power after a reconnection out of GPS coverage, and we correct or remove the cause we find.
In the ideal case, a rested battery reads about 12.8 V, and below 12.40 V Maserati calls for a recharge first. The load test then runs with the battery temperature entered and the negative clamp on the battery post, never on the sensor. A battery that fails it gets replaced.
A sound alternator never exceeds 14.4 V, and we read its output with the engine running. Maserati sets the sleep current below 70 mA. We trace and repair the circuit that draws more.
Maserati fits EFB and AGM batteries, and the label on top gives the type and the cold cranking current. We fit a new battery of that type, never smaller than the original.
The negative clamp comes off first and the positive second, and never with the engine running. On refit, each cable goes back to its own post, with the clamps tight and clean of corrosion.
After a reconnection, the 2024 Ghibli and the 2025 Grecale, GranTurismo and MC20 wait at ignition on so the throttle control can relearn. The resets cover the key fob locks, a boot lid cycle, climate AUTO, date and time, and the parking brake lever. A full steering lock each way, a road test and a final reading close the job.

Maserati notes that a tester set to the wrong battery type gives an inaccurate result. We enter EFB or AGM from the label before each test, and replace a battery on a true fail.
A reading taken at the jump posts includes the resistance of the cable between them and the battery. Our tester clamps go on the battery posts, and a battery that fails there gets replaced.
A 2024 Ghibli or 2025 Grecale carries an Intelligent Battery Sensor on the negative post. It measures charge and discharge current and works out the state of charge and health. We connect the charger's negative clamp so its current passes through that sensor.
A voltage reading shows charge, yet battery health needs a complex test procedure. We run that full procedure before we pass any Maserati battery, and replace one that fails it.
Burn marks from arcing or a melted nylon lock nut show a loose contact at the battery posts or the battery distribution unit. We tighten or renew a terminal that shows either sign.
Maserati has released software that improves the electric absorption of the Grecale and the battery draw of the GranTurismo and GranCabrio, Folgore versions included. We refer a car whose drain matches to a Maserati dealer for that update.

Ghibli MHEV versions date from 2020, Levante MHEV from 2021 and Grecale MHEV from 2022. The GranTurismo needs stricter 12 V charge control than other Maserati models, and we keep its battery charged during long diagnostic work.
A Maserati battery lasts longer in Dubai when it stays charged and the parked car draws as little as possible. Use a charger in short-trip weeks and long stands, and switch everything off before locking. Keep the hybrid battery intake clear, and book a battery test before the summer heat.
For a 2024 Ghibli or 2025 Grecale on short daily trips or left unused, Maserati recommends its Battery Charger and Conditioner. The charger holds the battery at the voltage the car's systems require.
On a 2024 Ghibli or 2025 Grecale, Maserati asks for closed doors, lids and flaps and interior lights off before the owner leaves. With the engine off, keep the radio, hazard lights and fan off too.
A 2024 Ghibli or Levante MHEV cools its 48 V battery with cabin air. The air enters through a grille on the left of the rear parcel shelf, so keep that grille uncovered.

Dubai heat and daily use shorten it more than age does. Conventional starter batteries in Dubai taxis gave out after about 5 to 6 months. Our test result, not the calendar, decides a replacement.
No. On a 2024 Ghibli or 2025 Grecale, Maserati rules out a charger for emergency starting. It can damage the control units for ignition and fuel supply. Jump leads or a booster pack go on the remote posts. We test the battery once the car runs and replace it on a fail.
No. A car built with AGM takes AGM again, since its energy management can push a flooded battery too hard and cut its life short. Moving from AGM down to EFB goes against that design too. We fit the type printed on the old battery's label.
