A Lamborghini shows 6 oil signs: a 2018 Huracán overfill message, a pressure warning, a rising level, a falling level, a drip and dark oil. Each one leads back to the fill, a leak or the state of the oil. We trace every sign to its cause and correct it.
On a 2018 Huracán, this pop-up with a yellow oil light means the engine holds too much oil. Lamborghini's fix is to take 500 ml out of the oil reservoir. The car then drives about 10 km on a flat road below 4,000 rpm, and we carry out both steps.
Too little oil in the engine lowers the oil pressure and lights the oil pressure warning. We check the level, top up with the listed oil and repair whatever let the level fall.
A reading above the maximum mark, with no oil added since the last change, shows fuel in the oil. We drain the thinned oil and refill to the correct level.
A twin-turbo V8 that calls for top-ups between changes is using oil. We fill to the maximum mark, log the fuel over 1,000 km and top up to the mark again. The amount added gives the use per 1,000 km, and we then fix what consumes it.
Fresh oil spots under a parked Lamborghini mark a leaking seal, gasket or drain plug. We trace the leak to its source and replace the part that seeps.
Engine oil can turn dark within hundreds of km after fresh oil goes in, so colour says little about its state. We judge it on km, date and level.

Dubai International Airport logs 17.7 rising-sand days annually. Its mean daily high runs from 40.3 °C in June to 41.9 °C in August. We change the filter with the oil each time, so the sand it has trapped leaves the engine.

On turbo petrol engines, API SP oils guard against low-speed pre-ignition and timing chain wear. They also hold back deposits on pistons and turbochargers.
ACEA C oils suit catalysts and petrol particulate filters, and they lengthen the life of both.

A new filter's return-stop valve keeps the filter and oil channels full when the engine stops. Oil flows the moment the engine starts again.
When a filter clogs, its bypass valve opens and lets unfiltered oil round the engine. A new filter keeps the oil passing through the media.
Fitting a fresh sealing ring at every drain keeps the plug from seeping. On a plug with its ring built in, we fit a new plug.
A Lamborghini needs the SAE grade and the approvals Lamborghini lists for its engine. For the MY2019 Urus V8, Lamborghini specifies SAE 0W-40 oil with the Porsche C40 and VW 51100 approvals. Lamborghini chose that oil for its reduced soot content and its fuel-saving properties.

A Lamborghini needs an oil change at the interval Lamborghini sets for its model. Lamborghini's published intervals put the engine oil and filter change at 15,000 km for the Revuelto, the Urus SE and the Temerario. On these 3 models, the intervals run on km and time, and they vary by market.

The model and engine decide the oil and the fill, and the km decide the next change. We write all 3 down before a bottle is chosen.
Oil straight after a drive is hot enough to burn. We drain it once it has cooled down.
On a Temerario, the oil tank sits in one side of the engine, which runs dry-sump lubrication with 5-stage gear scavenge pumps. We drain the old oil and fit a new oil filter.
The first fill stops at the minimum mark, then the engine idles to build oil pressure. We top up from there in 0.1 litre steps to the maximum.
With the engine idling, we inspect the drain plug and the filter for seepage, then correct any seep.
We road test the car, then read the level once more and correct it.

4 factors set the cost of a Lamborghini oil change in Dubai: oil quantity, grade and approvals, the filter and any fault. Quantity follows the engine fitted. The approvals limit which oils qualify for each engine, and a fault adds its own diagnosis and repair.

Lamborghini publishes fixes for oil messages, such as the overfill pop-up on the 2018 Huracán. We match each message to the fix for that model before we act.
An Aventador S holds 13 litres of engine oil. We fill each engine to its own quantity, not to a set figure.
The Huracán Tecnica, the Huracán STO and the Aventador S all run dry-sump lubrication. We drain and fill these engines as dry-sump systems.
Oil additives alter what the oil does and can lead to serious engine failure. We put nothing in the engine beyond the listed oil.
Viscosity alone does not qualify an oil for a Lamborghini. We check the approvals printed on the bottle against the listing for the engine.
We record the grade, the approvals, the km and the date of every change.

The Huracán Tecnica runs a 5.2 litre V10, and the Aventador Ultimae and Revuelto run 6.5 litre V12 engines. The Urus and Temerario use a 4.0 litre twin-turbo V8.
A Lamborghini owner in Dubai protects the engine between oil changes with 4 habits. They are a summer check, a careful Huracán dipstick reading, a clean filler and the listed oil in an Urus. Each habit keeps the oil clean and at its level until our next change.
Check the engine oil and coolant levels, and look under the car for oil or water leaks. Do this before the hot months set in.
On a 2018 Huracán, Lamborghini sets the top limit at the middle of the "Do not fill area" on the dipstick. Oil above it brings the overfill message.
Clean round the filler cap and the dipstick before opening them, above all in sand and dust.
Top up an MY2019 Urus with the listed oil alone. Lamborghini asks that an Urus filled with another oil gets the listed oil at its next service, and we make that switch.
