Warning signs

What are the signs your Lamborghini brakes need new pads or discs?

A Lamborghini that needs brake work shows 6 signs. Two are felt at the pedal or read on screen: a longer pedal after hard driving and a high brake temperature on a Huracán STO. Grinding, squeal, a burning smell and a cracked disc complete the list, each with our repair.

A longer pedal after hard driving

Lamborghini fitted the Huracán Tecnica with brake ducts that cut brake fluid temperature and pedal elongation. Fluid that reaches its boiling point forms vapour bubbles, and the pedal can drop to the floor. We replace the brake fluid and bleed the circuit.

A high brake temperature on a Huracán STO

The Huracán STO estimates its braking system temperature through Brake Temperature Monitoring, shown on the touchscreen. The same estimate helps the driver manage brake wear across the system's life. After hot track laps, we refer pads and discs that the heat has worn to their limit to a Lamborghini dealer.

Grinding under braking

A grinding noise tells you the friction material is gone and the metal backing is on the disc. We send the car to a Lamborghini dealer for new carbon ceramic pads and a check of the disc.

A squeal from the wheels

Brake squeal is vibration between 300 Hz and 5 kHz. Causes include a sticking calliper piston, a pad seated wrongly or a disc worn down hard. We clean and release the piston or fit a new one, and send a pad seated wrongly or a worn disc to a Lamborghini dealer.

A burning smell and weak braking

Overheated pads give off gas from their resins, and that gas lowers the grip between pad and disc. A pungent smell from the wheels comes with it. Our technicians refer the overheated pads and both discs on that axle to the dealer.

Cracks in a disc face

Constant heat stress opens thermal cracks in a brake disc, and a disc with radial cracks is replaced. On a Lamborghini, we pass the carbon ceramic disc pair and its pads to the dealer for renewal.

What it covers

Lamborghini brake pads and disc replacement in Dubai: what we do and what we refer

A Lamborghini brake job in our bay takes in the following:

  • Road test and brake fault code read
  • Calliper, hose and cooling duct inspection
  • Calliper piston release or renewal
  • Carbon ceramic pads and discs referred to the dealer
  • READY check on hybrids before a wheel comes off
  • Urus rear park brake calibration
  • Slide guide service on Urus rear callipers
  • Brake fluid boiling point test and bleed
  • Wheel bolts torqued in sequence

We apply this list to the Huracán, Aventador, Urus, Revuelto and Temerario, and keep the Urus items for the Urus.

In Dubai conditions

What wears out or weakens Lamborghini brakes in Dubai?

Six causes wear out or weaken Lamborghini brakes in Dubai. City traffic, track days and heat cycles wear the pads and discs. Glazed pads, a calliper that stays partly applied and old brake fluid weaken the system.

  • City traffic: stop-start town use brings pads to their wear limit far sooner than open-road driving.
  • Track days: extreme track use wears out a carbon ceramic disc in around 2,000 km, against about 150,000 km of road driving.
  • Heat cycles: a brake disc goes through about 100,000 heating and cooling cycles in its life.
  • Glazed pads: too much heat turns the friction surface hard, smooth and glass-like.
  • A calliper that does not fully release: constant rubbing lifts disc temperature until the heat can harm the braking system.
  • Old brake fluid: the fluid absorbs water from the air, and its boiling point falls.

Dubai's road network carries over 3.5 million vehicles each day, so a Lamborghini driven in town brakes in heavy traffic. Taper wear across a pad marks a faulty calliper, which we repair or replace.

In depth

The benefits of correct Lamborghini brake work

We do this brake work so a Lamborghini driver gets these results:

A Urus park brake ready for the RTA test

The Urus carries its electric park brake in the rear callipers. The RTA periodic test, needed to renew registration, checks parking brake performance and efficiency. A Urus with its park brake in order meets that item.

A firm pedal after hard driving

Fresh brake fluid keeps its boiling point, so no vapour bubbles form and the pedal holds its travel after hard driving.

Callipers that release fully

A calliper that releases fully ends the constant rubbing that lifts disc temperature, so the brakes run cooler.

Stopping distances as Lamborghini tested them

Lamborghini measured a 100 to 0 km/h stop in 33.7 m for the Urus. The Huracán Tecnica stopped in 31.5 m and the Temerario in 32 m. Brakes in good order give the driver that stopping power back.

Better pad life on a Huracán Tecnica

Lower disc temperatures on the Huracán Tecnica help its brake pads last. Intact cooling deflectors and calliper ducts keep that heat down.

Even pad wear on a Urus

Clean, greased guides let the floating rear calliper of a Urus slide, so its pads avoid taper wear.

In depth

How do the Revuelto and Temerario change Lamborghini brake work?

On a Revuelto or Temerario, the front e-axle and the rear electric motor help slow the car, which reduces stress on the friction brakes. Braking also recharges the 3.8 kWh battery through the front wheels. Both cars still stop on friction brakes, so pads and discs still wear.

READY on the instrument cluster in P means the electric drive is on. We switch the car off until READY clears before any wheel comes off.

Prevention

How Royal Prince Auto Care works on Lamborghini brakes

Our Lamborghini brake work runs in 6 steps.

Drive the car and scan the brake system

A technician drives the car to confirm the noise, pull or pedal feel you describe. Surrounding parts can mimic brake faults, so we inspect them as well. Our diagnostic tool then scans the brake system for stored fault codes.

Inspect the callipers, hoses and cooling ducts

On a Temerario, a deflector on the lower suspension arm steers air to the front calliper. A Revuelto feeds its rear brake cooling duct through 2 NACA ducts ahead of the rear wheels. We check each duct and deflector for damage and replace a broken one.

Refer the carbon ceramic pads and discs

Across its life a carbon ceramic disc gets about 1.25 per cent lighter, so its weight shows its wear. Urus rear pads come with their own fixing clips. We refer disc weighing and pad and disc renewal to a Lamborghini dealer.

Protect the electric park brake

Winding an electric park brake piston back by hand harms its pressure nut or spindle. On a Urus, we set the rear park brake to its pad changing mode by diagnostic tool before rear calliper work. The Urus, Revuelto and Temerario brake with 10-piston front callipers.

Bleed the brake circuit

We bleed every brake circuit we opened, with fresh fluid in the reservoir. The pedal is then pumped until it travels its normal distance.

Bleed, calibrate and road-test the brakes

Before the car rolls, a Urus has its park brake calibrated by diagnostic tool. On the final drive we check for noise and vibration, braking smoothly and never holding the pedal beyond 3 seconds.

Send the model and the symptom by WhatsApp, or call, to book a Lamborghini brake check.

Cost and value

What decides the cost of Lamborghini brake pads and disc replacement in Dubai?

The cost of Lamborghini brake pads and disc replacement in Dubai sits with the Lamborghini dealer, since carbon ceramic pad and disc work goes there. Our own work is priced on 3 factors: Urus rear park brake steps, any calliper or hose repair and a fluid change.

We base our quote on the brake hardware on the car.

Why Royal Prince

Why choose Royal Prince Auto Care for Lamborghini brake work

What sets our Lamborghini brake method apart:

The car's build read first

Lamborghini fits different disc sizes and materials across its range. We read the build of each car before any brake work starts.

Slide guides serviced on the Urus

The Urus rear callipers are a floating type that slides on guides. We clean the guides, grease them with the grease the maker specifies and replace any corroded guide bolt.

No grease where it does not belong

Grease or copper paste goes on an electric park brake calliper at the places the maker names, and nowhere else. No lubricant touches the friction face of a pad or disc.

Repairs set by fault codes

Each brake fault code our scan finds sets the repair we carry out.

Wheel bolts torqued in sequence

Every wheel bolt is tightened in the right order with a torque wrench set to the correct torque.

Brake fluid tested, not guessed

We measure the boiling point of the brake fluid on every brake job. Any reading under 180 °C means new fluid.

In Dubai conditions

How do you make Lamborghini brakes last longer in Dubai?

Four owner habits help Lamborghini brakes last longer in Dubai. Two cut the heat and moisture load: brake fluid changed at Lamborghini's mileage and paddle downshifts on long descents. Two protect the pads: a gentle bedding-in after new parts and a pad check at every service.

We add the fluid change to a brake job when it falls due.

Brake fluid at Lamborghini's mileage

Lamborghini lists a brake fluid change every 15,000 km for the Temerario. The Revuelto and Urus SE take fresh fluid every 30,000 km.

Paddle downshifts on a Revuelto or Temerario

Holding the left paddle while braking shifts a Revuelto or Temerario down through the gears in sequence. Engine braking on long descents takes heat load off the pads and discs.

A gentle bedding-in

New pads and discs take light braking for the first 200 km or more. No sudden stop lasts beyond 3 seconds, and none is hard enough to trigger the ABS.

A pad check at every service

Pads checked every 12 months or at every service reach the dealer before their friction material runs out.

FAQs

Lamborghini Brake Pads and Discs questions, answered

Does a Lamborghini need new discs at every pad change?

No. A disc stays on the car with fresh pads while it is within its wear limit. Once worn past that limit or cracked, it is replaced along with the other disc on the axle.

Which Lamborghini models have carbon ceramic brakes?

The Urus and Aventador S carry carbon ceramic brakes as standard, and the Urus SE and Huracán Tecnica run CCB discs. The Huracán STO uses CCM-R discs, and the Revuelto and Temerario use CCB Plus. Lamborghini built the Urus carbon ceramic brakes for frequent and heavy braking with almost no fade.

Is a Lamborghini dealer needed for Lamborghini brake pads and disc replacement in Dubai?

Yes. We refer Lamborghini carbon ceramic pad and disc work to a Lamborghini dealer. Our DIP 2 workshop tests and changes the brake fluid, repairs callipers, hoses and ducts, and calibrates the Urus rear park brake. Open recalls and Lamborghini software campaigns go to the dealer too.

Do Lamborghini hybrids still use brake fluid?

Yes. Hybrid and electric cars keep hydraulic brakes, so the Revuelto, Temerario and Urus SE take brake fluid as other cars do. We test that fluid on every brake job.
