An Audi transmission problem shows 6 signs: 2 gearbox messages, full-lock droning, pull-away shudder, a gear that does not engage and an R8 recall leak. Each card names its models and ends with the repair we carry out for that sign.
On an S4, S5, RS 5, S6 or S7 with the 7-speed S tronic, code P17D8 can join this message, torque limitation from clutch temperature. A coolant oil valve code, P179D, belongs to the same fault set. We replace the mechatronic circuit board behind this fault set.
An S4 with the 0B5 S tronic can downshift harshly from 7 to 5, 4 to 3 or 2 to 1. It can also bump after a stop, with code P1724 stored. Audi's fix is improved transmission software, so we read the code and refer the car to an Audi dealer for the update.
An A4, A4 allroad or A5 with the 0CL S tronic can drone, vibrate or rub with the steering wheel fully turned. The noise comes from the centre differential and damages no part, so new parts do not cure it. We warm the car, drain and refill the S tronic oil, then repeat the cycle.
On the eight-speed tiptronic, the torque converter lockup clutch stays closed in normal driving and connects the gearbox straight to the engine. Friction material aged in hot transmission fluid can lose its friction quality and shudder. We replace the aged fluid and test the pull-away again.
A Q7, Q8, A8, SQ7 or RS Q8 with a 0D5, 0D6 or 0D7 gearbox can refuse a gear or stay locked in P. With the selector lever unplugged, we try both paddles with the brake pressed at a standstill. When both paddles also fail, the selector lever is excluded, and we repair the gearbox fault.
A 2018 recall in Qatar covers R8 models of 2016 to 2018 for leakage from the gearbox breather pipe. We check the breather pipe area and refer a covered car to an Audi dealer for the recall work.

S tronic is Audi's name for its dual-clutch gearbox, and tiptronic for its torque-converter automatic. Our Audi transmission repair in Dubai covers both, with the quattro drive behind them.
Audi transmission failure in Dubai traces to 6 causes: heat, a wrong oil level, running dry, overdue oil, drivetrain tension and mechatronic contact faults. A sound S tronic shifts as one clutch opens and the other closes. Each change takes hundredths of a second, with almost no break in traction.
Precise control of its clutches keeps the seven-speed S tronic responsive in stop-and-go traffic and while manoeuvring.
On restart, a spring piston forces about 100 millilitres of stored oil into the eight-speed tiptronic's actuating elements, so the gearbox is ready at once.
The tiptronic lockup clutch works with limited slip in set situations, and with its dampers lets the engine pull at low speeds without vibration.
With the car stopped in D, an internal coupling separates the tiptronic from the engine, so no energy goes into oil circulating in the converter.
Audi's quattro with ultra technology drives the front wheels at low load and engages the rear axle before it is needed. Audi's test cars used 0.3 litres/100 km less fuel on average than with conventional all-wheel drive.
An Audi gearbox depends on the model and its engine: an S tronic dual-clutch gearbox or a tiptronic automatic with a torque converter. A code such as 0CK, 0CL, 0HL or 0D5 names the exact unit. We read that code on the car before choosing oil, parts or a repair.
On the S tronic, one clutch drives the odd-numbered gears and reverse, and the other the even-numbered gears. The B9 A4 uses the 0CK with front-wheel drive and the 0CL with quattro. The C8 A6 uses the 0CK, or the 0HL with quattro ultra.
The facelifted Q5 40 TDI pairs a seven-speed S tronic with quattro ultra, and every third-generation Q5 uses the 7-speed S tronic. In the 2011 A1 and A3, the compact seven-speed S tronic runs 2 dry clutches with no separate oil supply. On the Q2, engines from 320 Nm get an S tronic whose clutches run in an oil bath.
Audi's tiptronic is a classic torque-converter automatic with planetary gearsets, built with 6 or 8 gears by model line. The Q8 and A8 use the eight-speed 0D5. The revised Q7, the SQ8 and the RS 6 Avant GT also run an eight-speed tiptronic.
An Audi transmission rebuild or an exchange gearbox is our advice when the drained oil shows internal damage. Oil that smells burnt or carries chips or metal fragments marks a damaged gearbox. Without those signs, the repair targets the fault itself: the oil, a seal or the mechatronic unit.
The magnet in the oil pan shows the amount of wear in the oil. Analysis of the pan oil decides between an oil change, an oil rinse and an exchange unit. We base the choice on both, together with the stored codes.
Where the inspection calls for it, we fit an exchange gearbox or carry out a repair matched to the gearbox's current value.

A transmission control unit keeps its own fault codes, so we read the gearbox unit itself and not the engine unit alone.

Audi's quattro with ultra technology adds a multi-plate clutch at the rear end of the gearbox. By model, it holds 5 or 7 pairs of plates in an oil bath, and a decoupler in the rear-axle differential works with it. We include both when we price quattro ultra work.

Audi ties its S tronic mechatronic repair to an exact match of fault codes and symptom codes. We check that match before the gearbox is opened.
A mechatronic circuit board cannot be removed and used again once connected. When its connector locks are damaged during the change, we replace the whole mechatronic unit.
In the 2011 A8, the selector lever has no mechanical link to the transmission. On a car with the 0D5, 0D6 or 0D7 gearbox, we read the selector lever address 0081 alongside gearbox address 0002.
The quattro ultra control unit samples steering angle, lateral and longitudinal acceleration and engine torque every 10 milliseconds. We read it alongside the gearbox when the drive feels wrong.
Every engine in the revised Q7 works with the mild hybrid system, and the enhanced A8 has it as standard. We identify the mild hybrid system before gearbox work begins.
On a 0CL A4 or A5, identical cars with the same tyre size and make show the same full-lock noise. We compare a drivetrain noise with a like car before calling it a fault.
