An Audi that needs AC repair shows 6 signs. The vents blow weak or warm air, a hiss comes at switch-on, or the cooling fades in traffic. The AC can also drop out for minutes at a time, smell musty or buzz behind the dashboard.
Audi starts its leak diagnosis on R134a and R1234yf cars when the cabin cooling is weak or gone. We find the leak and repair it.
A hiss that comes as the pressure changes at switch-on or switch-off signals a refrigerant leak. We trace the leak and replace the hose, seal or part that lets the gas out.
At walking pace, the fan alone moves air across the condenser. A fan that stops or never reaches full speed leaves the condenser short of air. We test the fan circuit and the pressure switch, then replace the failed part.
An AC that fails for minutes at a time and then cools again has an iced-up evaporator. We check the expansion valve and the evaporator temperature sensor, then replace the one at fault.
A musty smell at start-up comes from microbial growth on the evaporator. We flush the evaporator with a spray lance to wash the growth and pollen out.
Buzzing, whistling or booming from the dashboard comes from a part-blocked expansion valve. We replace the valve and the dryer and clear the debris from the circuit.
Our Audi AC repair covers these jobs:
On an odour job, we disinfect the air ducts as well as the evaporator.
Audi AC failure in Dubai traces back to 6 causes. They are a refrigerant leak, a hidden evaporator leak, condenser heat load, heat-aged hose seals, a saturated drier and an overheated compressor. Each one ends in weak or warm air from the vents, and each has its own repair.
In August, Dubai averages a daily high of 41.9 °C, and the station record stands at 48.8 °C. Those afternoons put the condenser and the hose seals under their heaviest load.
We confirm the cause with pressure readings and a leak test, then repair that cause.
A correct repair gives an Audi driver these results:
A circuit with no air or moisture left inside keeps its pressures in range. The vents stay cold at a standstill on a summer afternoon.
A circuit without leaks holds both refrigerant and compressor oil, with nothing to top up between checks.
On an A3 (8V) with Climatronic, the dust and pollen filter carries activated charcoal. It also stops spores, bacteria and gaseous pollutants before they reach the cabin.
A serviced Audi AC keeps excessive fogging off the windscreen.
A new evaporator in a Q5 means moving relay and fuse carrier 3. We refit it in its exact original position, which keeps water out of the electrics.
Flushing the circuit and fitting a new expansion valve keeps metal debris from the old compressor away from the new one.
An Audi AC system runs on R134a, R1234yf or R744, which is carbon dioxide. At the A8's launch, Audi offered R744 in Europe and no other market, so the label under the bonnet decides.
An R744 circuit works at up to 140 bar on the high side, against under 30 bar for R134a and R1234yf. Audi also requires R744 of more than 99.995% purity. We refer an Audi with R744 to an Audi dealer.
R134a and R1234yf use different service fittings, so the 2 cannot be mixed. We connect the machine built for the refrigerant on the label.
AC work on a 48 V or electric Audi changes with the compressor drive. The third-generation Q5 runs an electrically driven AC compressor on its 48 V system. A 2024 A5 with the electric compressor keeps its AC running at traffic lights with the engine off.
An electric compressor takes insulating oil and no other type, so we fill the oil type that compressor needs. On a Q5 with the 12 V mild hybrid, we disconnect the 12 V lithium-ion battery as well as the lead battery.
The e-tron and Q8 e-tron carry a high-voltage AC compressor at the front, and their refrigerant circuit also cools the high-voltage battery. We refer AC work on these cars to an Audi dealer.
Each Audi AC job runs through these 6 steps:
We read the climate control unit's fault memory and note whether the cooling drops at idle, in slow traffic or on every drive.
The engine runs with the AC on maximum while we log the vent temperature plus the high-side and low-side pressures. The outside temperature and humidity go beside them for the chart comparison.
A recovery machine draws the refrigerant out, and we weigh it against the figure on the label. Less than half the specified charge shows an active leak.
The empty circuit takes a mix of 95% nitrogen and 5% hydrogen, at no more than 14 bar absolute. After 20 minutes to settle, we trace the hydrogen along the circuit with a detector.
We replace the hose, seal, condenser, evaporator or valve that leaks. Each opened circuit also gets a new dryer.
A vacuum draws air and moisture out and shows that the circuit holds. We charge to the label weight and repeat the step 2 readings.

The cost of Audi AC repair in Dubai depends on 4 factors. Those are the leak's position, the failed part, the refrigerant on the label and any compressor failure. An evaporator leak means removing and refitting the evaporator, a longer job than a hose or condenser.
A failed compressor adds work across the whole circuit. We name the failed part from the test results and repair that part.
These practices set our Audi AC work apart:
With the cabin closed and the circuit full of calibration gas, we hold the detector at the defroster outlet. No hydrogen there means the evaporator stays, and we repair the leak elsewhere in the circuit.
Running the AC while calibration gas fills the circuit damages the compressor. We mark the car so the AC stays off until the test ends.
We take the static reading after the Audi has stood for at least an hour, engine off. It is then compared with the saturation pressure for the outside temperature. A lower figure means lost charge, so we find and seal the leak.
After a compressor change, we set the oil to the quantity the complete Audi circuit takes. A circuit with a second evaporator takes more.
We recover the old refrigerant by machine, so none of it escapes into the air.
Heat and moisture can turn R1234yf into polymers that damage the service unit. Our cylinders stay in the shade.
We repair the AC on petrol and diesel versions of these Audi ranges, with the generation codes Audi states:
Owners keep Audi AC healthy in Dubai with 4 habits. Those are a pre-summer check, monthly AC use in the cooler months, a clean condenser and a fresh dust and pollen filter. Each habit protects the charge, the compressor or the airflow across the evaporator.
Book the AC check in April, when Dubai's mean daily maximum is 33.7 °C. It reaches 38.2 °C the month after. At that check, we measure the circuit pressures and the vent temperature and repair any leak they show.
From November to March, switch the AC on once a month or more, for about 10 minutes each time. That keeps the internal parts lubricated on an Audi parked between drives.
Dubai averages 17.7 days of rising sand a year, and sand in the condenser fins blocks the air that carries heat away. We clean the condenser on your Audi at each AC check.
On the B9 A4, a combined dust and pollen filter cleans the air in fresh-air and recirculation modes. Its cover sits in the front passenger footwell. Replace it at shorter intervals after dusty or sandy drives.

No. An AC circuit in good order holds its refrigerant, so an Audi that needs gas has a leak. Each top-up lets more compressor oil escape with the gas. We repair the leak first and then fill the charge by weight.
No. A detector at the defroster outlet shows whether hydrogen escapes from the evaporator while calibration gas fills the circuit. With no hydrogen there, the evaporator stays in the dashboard and we repair the leak elsewhere.
No. Audi uses R134a, R1234yf and R744 across its range, and at launch the A8 offered R744 in Europe and no other market. The label under the bonnet names the refrigerant and the charge, and we work to that label.
Yes. A 2024 A5 with the electric AC compressor keeps the AC running at traffic lights while the combustion engine is switched off.
