A weak Jaguar battery gives 6 signs. They are an IPSM warning, a lit charge lamp, idle stop/start, a flat battery after parking, a mild hybrid warning and I-PACE warnings. Faults outside the battery cause 4 of them, so we test before we replace.
The Intelligent Power System Management (IPSM) of an XE or XF (X260) monitors the main battery and warns at 2 levels with the engine off. The first is "Energy Management" on the Touch screen, the second "Low Battery - Please Start Engine". We test that battery and replace it when it fails.
On an XE, a red battery charge lamp that stays on after start-up, or lights while driving, marks a fault in the charging system. JLR tells the driver to seek qualified assistance urgently. We take a charging voltage reading at idle, where a sound alternator stays at or below 14.4 V, and repair the fault.
Intelligent stop/start on an XE, XF or F-TYPE skips automatic stops above about 40 °C outside, so summer idling is by design. On the XE and XF, a low battery charge also blocks the stop. When stop/start stays off below 40 °C, we test the battery and replace it on a fail.
A flat battery after 1 to 2.5 days parked can trace to a passive door handle on an F-PACE, XE or XF. The handle actuates incorrectly, and the low battery message can appear as well. We watch the door handle switch signals on live data and replace the handle whose signal changes.
On an E-PACE, F-PACE, XE or XF mild hybrid, a lit low battery warning or a noisy DC/DC converter signals a fault inside the converter. On such a car with air suspension, the compressor has been wrongly blamed for the noise. We replace the converter itself.
Low or discharged 12 V battery warnings on an I-PACE can come from a drain at rest. The Telematics Control Unit (TCU) or the Passive Entry Passive Start modules fail to shut down and keep the CAN network awake. JLR's fix for the TCU is a software service fix, so we refer the car to a Jaguar dealer for it.
Our Jaguar battery replacement in Dubai covers petrol, diesel, mild hybrid, plug-in hybrid and electric models. On the I-PACE and the plug-in hybrids, our work stays on the 12 V side, with the high-voltage system left closed.
Jaguar battery failure in Dubai has 6 causes: air heat, battery heat, grid corrosion, lasting heat damage, a wrong battery type and reversed jump leads. Heat heads the list, because lead-acid chemistry reacts twice as fast with every 10 °C rise.
Dubai air can pass 50 °C in the shade, and JLR put the F-PACE through its heat testing there. Cabins of cars parked in direct sun there can climb to 70 °C. Between June and October, the daily high at the airport reaches at least 30 °C on 100 per cent of days.
We fit a new battery of the factory type in place of a heat-aged one. A regulator damaged by reversed leads gets an alternator repair before the new battery goes in.

Yes. The X250 XF, X351 XJ, X152 F-TYPE and X150 XK carry a Battery Monitoring System (BMS). After each new battery goes in, the BMS module calls for a reset through diagnostic equipment, a step we include on these cars.
On the F-PACE, E-PACE, XE, X260 XF and I-PACE, we check the battery monitoring after fitting, with diagnostic software connected. Any reset the car calls for follows.
The 12 V battery of an F-TYPE sits behind the left hand cover of the luggage compartment. On an E-PACE or XE mild hybrid, the 48 V lithium-ion battery lies beneath the rear loadspace. An I-PACE keeps its 12 V batteries behind trim panels in the front compartment, under the bonnet.
The E-PACE P300e keeps its 15 kWh battery under the floor, and the I-PACE places its 90 kWh battery low between the axles. We open the cover or trim above the 12 V battery and nothing more.

JLR's instruction on an XE, XF or F-TYPE is to disconnect and remove the battery before charging it. We charge a low battery on the bench and then run a full health test. A voltage reading gives the state of charge but not the state of health.
We read the stored codes in the control modules and measure the sleep current once the car shuts down. When that current stays high, the module keeping the car awake gets its repair.
Battery type and capacity come from the car's build data. A battery smaller than the factory one never goes in.
A memory saver goes on before the first terminal comes off. It powers the electrical system while the old battery is out.
On an F-TYPE or XF (X260), the vent pipe goes back in place, clear and with no kinks, so pressure cannot build inside the battery. Refitting the battery of an XF (X260) takes special tools, which we use for it.
Disconnection can set off the alarm on an XF (X260) and leave its windows needing recalibration, so we recalibrate them. On the X250 XF, X351 XJ, X152 F-TYPE and X150 XK, the customer settings get a reset. A road test and a final battery reading close the job.

JLR found one tester model passing primary batteries on Jaguars whose stop/start no longer worked, while a second model failed them. We run the full health test before we call a battery sound.
An F-TYPE carries either an AGM battery or a low maintenance battery. We set the tester to the type fitted before each reading.
On an XE, XF or F-TYPE, a jump lead or starting aid on a battery terminal can spark and damage the charging system. We connect a starting aid at the boost terminals instead.
Every electric car, the I-PACE included, still relies on a 12 V battery for its control units and start-up. We test that battery on the I-PACE and on the plug-in hybrids, the P400e F-PACE and the P300e E-PACE.
An I-PACE carries a startup battery and an auxiliary battery. We test each one and replace the battery that fails.

JLR's UAE line-up today is the F-PACE, E-PACE, I-PACE and F-TYPE. The updated F-PACE runs four- and six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, with mild hybrid versions and the P400e plug-in hybrid.
Owners in Dubai extend the life of a Jaguar battery with 4 habits. They are driving on after a low battery warning, starting the engine at Energy Management, checking F-TYPE electrolyte and booking a spring test. Each habit keeps the battery out of deep discharge or catches a weak one early.
When an XE or XF shows "Low Battery - Please Start Engine", the IPSM starts shutting systems down 3 minutes later. JLR then advises a drive of at least 30 minutes above 0 °C, so the battery recovers to an acceptable level. When the message returns after that drive, book our battery test.
Normal system operation on an XE or XF resumes once the engine starts. Start it when the Energy Management message appears and it is safe to do so.
In hot climates, JLR calls for closer checks of the electrolyte level and condition on an F-TYPE with a low maintenance battery.
Mean daily highs at Dubai airport pass 40 °C from June to August. Summer damage to a battery shows up later as a failed start, and our spring test catches a weak battery before summer.

Jump leads on an XE or XF connect to the boost point terminals at the engine compartment front fuse box. The positive terminal sits under covers that release from the fuse box. Never clamp a lead to a battery terminal on these cars.
Yes. An F-PACE mild hybrid harvests energy through a Belt integrated Starter Generator and stores it in a separate 48 V lithium-ion battery. Our test on these cars covers the 12 V battery and the DC/DC converter.
