Bentley transmission problems show 6 signs. A Drive system fault message and irregular gearshifts show on the display or in the drive. The other 4 are a buzz in P or N, oil at the engine joint, a rear knock and a shake on full lock.
On a third-generation Continental GT, GTC or Flying Spur, W12 or V8, the Driver Instrument Panel shows a Drive system fault. Loose pins in the link harness to the dual-clutch mechatronic unit can cause it. We test the pins and replace the loose pins or the link harness.
A Continental GT, GTC or Flying Spur from the third generation can shift at odd moments, with gearbox warnings and drivability that comes and goes. We find which fault sits behind the shifts and repair it.
A third-generation Continental GT or GTC W12 can buzz or vibrate in P or N, and the noise can fade in Drive. Bentley traces it to the transmission cooler pipes touching the front subframe. We reposition the pipes and leave clearance from the subframe.
On a second-generation V8 Continental or Flying Spur, oil can drip from the joint between engine and gearbox. It passes the threads of the bolts that fix the torque converter drive plate to the crankshaft. We clean the 10 threaded holes and fit 10 new bolts with thread sealer applied.
On a third-generation Continental GT, GTC or Flying Spur, a knock or clunk from the rear can follow a change of direction at low speed. A heat shield touching the rear differential is one cause Bentley names. We relocate that heat shield, and replace a propeller shaft whose joints or centre mount show play.
A Bentayga can send a vibration through the floor or the steering wheel when it turns slowly with the wheel near full lock. Bentley's fix is fresh oil in the front and centre differentials, with the differential oil cooler and its pipes drained as well. We carry out that drain and refill.

A Bentley gearbox follows the generation of the car. First-generation Continental GT and Continental Flying Spur models use a six-speed automatic, while the second-generation GT V8 and the first-generation Bentayga use an eight-speed automatic. Third-generation Continental GT, GTC and Flying Spur models use an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox.
Bentley reworked the dual-clutch gearbox of the 2021 Continental GT Speed for faster shifts. The first-generation Bentayga has permanent four-wheel drive. We match the oil and the repair steps to the gearbox family of each car.
Six steps take a Bentley gearbox from the first record to the last road test.
We note the road speed, the steering input, the outside temperature and the engine temperature at the moment the fault shows.
We read the codes stored in the gearbox control unit itself. On a Bentayga, the adaption counters, fill pressure and fill time go on record too.
We set the oil level with the fluid at the temperature its gearbox calls for. Too much oil, too little, or a fill at the wrong temperature can each damage the gearbox.
With a metal oil pan, the filter and its sealing ring are renewed. A plastic pan holds its own filter, so the whole pan is replaced. No additive or cleaner goes in with the new oil.
On a torque converter automatic, such as the eight-speed of a second-generation V8 Continental, the engine holds 2,000 rpm for 30 seconds. That fills the converter with oil before the final level check.
We drive the car in the conditions from the first step, then scan the gearbox again. The job ends when no gearbox code returns.

The cost of Bentley transmission repair in Dubai depends on 3 factors: the gearbox family, the access work and the parts the fault calls for. A terminal repair, a new link harness and a drive plate bolt set differ widely in both labour and parts.
The front undersheet comes off to reach the gearbox control module connector. The link harness check takes off the left front wheel arch liner, and on a W12 GT or Flying Spur the rear subframe support too. The drive plate bolt repair takes the engine and gearbox out of a second-generation V8.

We start from the type code, such as 3S3 for a third-generation Continental GT, ZG2 for a Flying Spur or 4V1 for a Bentayga. Bentley scopes each gearbox fix to set types.
The ignition stays off for the whole of a gearbox wiring check. Before we open a gearbox connector, we disconnect the 12-volt battery.
We never bridge terminals or feed outside voltage into a control unit, because either can damage it beyond repair.
Bolts with thread sealer go in with a ratchet wrench. A power driver spins too fast for the sealant to work into the thread.
Each harness we repair is clipped to a solid point, never to a moving part or a coolant hose.
The drain plugs, fill plugs and oil cooler pipe seals of a Bentayga differential are single-use items. We fit new ones every time.

Four owner habits help a Bentley transmission last longer in Dubai. They cover oil changes, a standard car, patience while a new W12 adapts and no driving on with a leak. We carry out the oil change and leak repair these habits call for.
The six-speed and eight-speed automatics of the first and second-generation cars carry a lifetime fill. An oil change is still recommended after 150,000 km, and high temperatures and loads can call for a shorter interval.
Bentley rules out chip tuning, aftermarket wheels, body kits and exhausts before it judges a shift, noise or vibration complaint. A standard car keeps those questions out of the diagnosis.
A third-generation W12 Continental GT or Flying Spur adapts its engine and gearbox to the driving style. That takes 1,600 km or 6 weeks, whichever comes first, so judge the shifts after that point.
A gearbox must never run, or be towed, without oil in it. A fresh drop under the car is the moment to book a leak check.
