Toyota AC trouble shows as air that swings between warm and cold, warm air at idle or cooling lost at a Stop & Start halt. A lasting smell, weak airflow and weak cooling in Eco drive mode complete the 6 signs. Each sign below ends with our fix for it.
Toyota has acknowledged warm air that comes and goes on 2AR-FE and 2GR-FE Camrys built before a compressor change. The car stores code B1479, for the circuit of the compressor flow sensor. We confirm the charge and test the sensor harness, then repair the harness or fit a new compressor.
Toyota has acknowledged warm air at idle on 2ZR-FE and 2ZR-FAE Corollas built before a compressor update. Live data at idle then shows regulator current at 0.7 A or more, regulator pressure low and not rising, and evaporator fin temperature rising. Our technician reads that data and fits the updated compressor when the pattern matches.
When Stop & Start halts the engine of a Fortuner, its automatic AC stops cooling and the fan slows or stops. On a Hilux, Toyota advises switching Stop & Start off to give the AC priority while the car stands still. We check this setting first, then test and repair the AC when it stays warm with the engine running.
Odours from the cabin and the outside air collect on the evaporator. As the evaporator core changes temperature, it releases them through the vents. We fit a new charcoal AC filter, and clean the evaporator when the smell persists.
When airflow from a Camry's vents drops sharply, Toyota names a clogged AC filter as the first suspect. On a Land Cruiser 70, a clogged filter also lets the windows fog up easily. We replace the filter, then repair the blower circuit when the airflow stays weak.
Eco drive mode on a Corolla Hybrid restricts the compressor and fan speed. Toyota advises switching it or eco AC mode off for stronger cooling. We test the cooling with both modes off and clear a clogged filter or condenser face, and a Toyota dealer takes any remaining fault.

Six causes sit behind Toyota AC failure in Dubai. Four of them are in the refrigerant circuit: leaking O-ring joints, compressor debris, a low charge and mixed oil or dye. A blocked condenser and a clogged AC filter make up the rest, and Dubai heat adds load to the whole circuit.
Across 1991 to 2020, each day between June and October at Dubai International Airport reached at least 30 °C. The readings from our gauges and the dye trace name the cause, and we start the Toyota AC repair at that part.
Once we fix the fault at its source, a Toyota driver sees these gains:
A full charge and a clean condenser let the compressor run on at idle, so the cabin stays cool in a queue.
A sealed circuit keeps its gas, so the cooling holds its strength across the summers that follow.
A full, sealed circuit keeps the compressor oiled and cooled through the hottest months.
Clearing the debris the old compressor left behind spares the new one from a blocked expansion valve.
A repaired AC dehumidifies the outlet air, and on a Camry that clears a misted windscreen.
A fresh charcoal filter and a clean evaporator reduce the smell the air carries into the cabin.
A Toyota AC takes the refrigerant, compressor oil and charge amount printed on the AC label under its bonnet. Belt-driven Toyota compressors run on ND-12 oil, and electric ones on ND-11 oil, which also decides the leak dye. We read that label before any gas, oil or dye goes in.
We refer the electric AC compressor of a Toyota hybrid, and any high-voltage work, to a Toyota dealer. On the Corolla Hybrid, Toyota lists the AC compressor among the hybrid system parts, beside the hybrid battery and the power control unit. An electric compressor runs on insulating oil alone.

Each Toyota passes through 6 steps, starting at the tester and ending under the UV lamp.
A diagnostic tester on the Toyota's port pulls the AC fault codes and the climate control's live values. Whatever circuit or part a stored code names, we repair or renew it.
Sand and debris come off the condenser face, and each pipe joint gets a check for oil or dye traces. A bent or blocked condenser is replaced.
Our gauges record both circuit pressures while the engine runs with maximum cooling selected. The centre vent temperature goes on the same sheet as the outside temperature and humidity. Figures that fall outside the expected band lead to the leak search.
Toyota's dye method needs enough gas in the circuit to run the compressor, and the dye goes in at the low-side port. A 10-minute run at maximum cooling carries it round, and a UV lamp then shows each leak glowing bright yellow-green. A small leak can take 1 to 2 days of driving to show, so we check again after that.
We open the leaking joint and inspect its O-ring for cuts, dents, crushing, twists and grit, and its sealing face for corrosion. Toyota bars the reuse of a removed O-ring, so each opened joint gets a new one. We then replace the leaking hose, condenser or compressor.
Evacuation empties the lines of air and moisture, after which charging waits for a steady vacuum. Next, the station weighs in the charge printed on the label. A repeat of the step 3 readings follows, and the repaired joint goes back under the UV lamp.

Three things shape the price of Toyota AC repair in Dubai: the leak site, the spread of compressor debris and any rear cooler circuit. An O-ring joint under the bonnet takes less labour than an evaporator behind the dashboard. We price the job after our tests settle all 3.
Debris found in both compressor lines means a new compressor, condenser, evaporator, expansion valve and every AC line. A rear cooler circuit holds more oil and refrigerant.
Our Toyota AC work follows these practices:
After a compressor failure, we check the compressor inlet and outlet, the receiver-drier filter and the expansion valve for debris. Where the debris turns up decides the parts we renew.
The desiccant inside a receiver-drier cannot be regenerated. Each Toyota circuit we open gets a new one.
Lines and flushable parts get 3 flushing cycles after a compressor failure. A parallel-flow condenser, the expansion valve and the drier take no flush, so new ones go in.
On a Toyota with a rear cooler, the rear lines get their own flush. The shut-off valve to the second evaporator stays open while we charge the circuit.
We pull the old refrigerant into a recovery machine, and none is released to the air. The Kigali Amendment, which phases down HFC refrigerants, was accepted by the UAE on 19 April 2024.
A replacement compressor has its oil adjusted to the system total. Excess oil or refrigerant can lock a compressor hydraulically.

A Fortuner can have a manual or automatic rear cooler, and a Hiace or Granvia a rear cooler and heater or a rear automatic cooler. We test the rear outlets along with the front ones.
Toyota's care habits keep a Toyota AC working through Dubai heat, along with a refrigerant check before the summer peak. The cards below cover air mode, filters, the condenser, washing and recirculation. We handle the refrigerant check, the AC filter and a soiled condenser in our workshop.
On a Camry or Fortuner, Toyota advises setting the AC to outside air mode before turning the car off, to cut odours. A GCC-market Land Cruiser FJ lacks the automatic switch to outside air at parking, so the owner sets it by hand.
The Hilux and Fortuner schedules include a check of the AC refrigerant amount, at a 12-month interval. In April the airport station averages a 33.7 °C daily high, against 40.3 °C in June, which makes spring the time for that check.
On dusty roads, the Land Cruiser FJ and Corolla Hybrid schedules replace the AC filter every 15,000 km. The Land Cruiser 70 filter is washed in mild detergent instead, then rinsed, dried and refitted.
Toyota asks owners to check the radiator and condenser and clear away foreign objects. On the Land Cruiser 70, Toyota tells owners not to do further work on these parts themselves.
On the Corolla Hybrid, Toyota warns that water entering the AC intake near the lower windscreen can stop the AC working correctly. Do not hold a pressure washer on that area.
On the Land Cruiser 70, Toyota recommends recirculated air when the outside temperature is high, to ease the load on the AC. On a Camry, Toyota suggests it for a short time to keep dirty air out and help cool the cabin.
