A warning lamp and normal height as the limit
On an L405 or L494, this warning comes from a damaged expansion chamber elbow on the air supply unit, which lets air escape. Codes C1A20-64 and C1131-92 go with it. We fit a new expansion chamber with 3 new air line connectors and check the existing adaptor.

A car that rises when access height is chosen
On an L405 or L494, the body starts to lower, meets resistance, then climbs to off-road height with a warning light. Its causes include a blocked, kinked or crushed air pipe, leaking dampers and a blocked compressor exhaust silencer. We trace each air pipe along its route and replace the pipe, damper or silencer at fault.

"ADAPTIVE DYNAMICS FAULT" in the message centre
On an L405, Adaptive Dynamics reads body movement and sets the infinitely variable dampers to the road and to the driver's inputs. With this message lit, the ride loses part of its comfort. We test each damper and replace the one that has failed.

A lean warning in corners
An L405 Range Rover can show "SUSPENSION FAULT VEHICLE LEAN WHEN CORNERING" beside a red or amber warning lamp. Our technicians test the dampers and the Dynamic Response system, then replace the failed part.

"SUSPENSION LOWERED FOR SAFETY" on the display
A fault in the Dynamic Stability Control system makes an L405 drop its ride height for stability, with the height switch lamps out. We repair the DSC part at fault so the car can return to its normal height.

A moan for seconds after the car stops
An L405 or L494 with its active roll control fluid above 60 °C can moan as it stops and for up to 15 seconds after. The noise comes from the pre-load valve in the valve block and does no harm to the system. JLR's repair is a new valve block, which we fit once the moan is confirmed with the fluid hot.
