A Porsche transmission problem shows as a gearbox message, hard shifts, a missing gear or a car that rolls in P. Each of these links to specific Porsche models and, for the messages, to stored fault codes. We read the gearbox codes first, since one message has different causes on different models.
Porsche has documented hard or jerky gear changes on the 92A Cayenne and the 970 Panamera S E-Hybrid with the 8-speed Tiptronic. It traces them to the handover from the engaged gear to the target gear, and its fix is new Tiptronic software with an adaptation reset. We confirm the code, and a Porsche dealer loads the update.
On a 95B Macan, this message can come with clutch valve faults P17D400 or P17D500 in the PDK. Porsche traces them to production particles that jam control valves, and its first step is cleaning the ATF lines and cooler. We do the cleaning and road-test the car, and a Porsche dealer fits a new PDK control unit if the message stays.
A 997 911 or a 987 Boxster or Cayman with PDK can show this message when the crimp connection on the gearbox temperature sensor fails. Codes P0711 or P172D then sit in the PDK control unit. We confirm the codes, and a Porsche dealer crimps in the new sensor with the tool Porsche supplies to its dealers.
A Taycan with a jammed claw clutch in its rear gearbox shows "Transmission faulty - driving permitted" and no longer changes into 2nd gear. From 50 km/h, "Transmission faulty - reduced driving possible" follows. We read code P1D2E00 in the DME, and Porsche's fix of an actuator test and a high-torque drive is a dealer step.
In 2019, Porsche recalled about 337,000 Cayenne and Panamera cars worldwide for a rollaway risk in P. It covers Cayennes built 2002 to 2010 and Panameras built 2008 to 2016, where a worn plastic part links the selector lever to the gearbox. We check that link, and a Porsche dealer fits the recall part.

PDK is Porsche's dual-clutch gearbox, and Tiptronic S is its conventional automatic. Our Porsche transmission repair in Dubai covers both, along with the transfer gear and final drives behind them.
Porsche transmission failure in Dubai rests on 6 causes: leaks, heat, hard driving, an unknown oil history, a gearbox run without oil, and additives. Heat weighs most here, since every day from June to October reaches at least 30 °C in Dubai. Each cause below carries the step we take against it.
Dubai's roads carry more than 3.5 million vehicles a day, and average daily highs top 40 °C in June, July and August. For a Porsche that spends its summer in that traffic, we check the gearbox oil before June and renew it where it has aged.
Once we fix the cause, the gearbox shows it on the road:
A healthy PDK swaps gears with no break in drive, so the car keeps pulling as it shifts.
On the current 911 Carrera 4S, a PDK in good order changes gear in milliseconds.
ATF aged at high temperature can alter clutch friction material and bring on shudder. Fresh fluid removes that cause.
Gearbox oil cools the gears and clutches, a task fresh oil at the right level carries out in full.
Gearbox oil also protects the gearbox against contamination.
The oil transmits the control commands behind each shift, so a correct fill keeps those commands intact.
A Porsche has one of 4 gearbox types: PDK dual-clutch, Tiptronic S automatic, manual, or the 2-speed rear gearbox of the Taycan. The model and its generation decide which one. We work on the PDK, Tiptronic S and manual gearboxes, and read the gearbox codes on all 4.
PDK splits the gears between 2 clutches: odd gears and reverse on clutch I, even gears on clutch II. Shift forks select each gear, moved by computer-aided electrohydraulics. Porsche first offered a 7-speed PDK in the 911 Carrera and Carrera S in 2008.
In 2009 the Panamera became the first Porsche with a standard 7-speed PDK, and since 2016 every new Panamera has the 8-speed PDK II. The 95B Macan uses a 7-speed PDK. The 992 911 has an 8-speed PDK, which carries an electric motor on the GTS T-Hybrid.
Every facelifted Cayenne has an 8-speed Tiptronic S, the Turbo E-Hybrid included. The Taycan drives its rear axle through a 2-speed gearbox, with a short first gear for pulling away and a long second for high speed. Manual gearboxes remain on the 911 GT3 and the 718 GTS 4.0.
We advise a Porsche transmission rebuild or an exchange gearbox when drained oil smells burnt or carries chips or metal, the marks of internal damage. Without those marks, we look for the cause in leaks, the oil level, the oil itself and the control side first, and repair it there.
A rebuild and an exchange gearbox are the 2 options for internal damage, and the choice between them drives the cost.
Each Porsche gearbox job moves through these steps:
Extra current draw during diagnosis can pull the voltage down and store false fault entries. We connect a charger of at least 90 A before reading the gearbox.
A generic scan can show just the engine unit's request for the warning lamp. We read the PDK or Tiptronic control unit for its own codes.
Porsche counts the whole powertrain as a factor in shift quality. We check the engine and driveline, and repair a fault there before judging the shifts.
The magnet in the oil pan shows how much wear the oil carries. We read it together with the drained oil before choosing the repair.
Filling at the wrong oil temperature damages a gearbox. We set the level at the oil temperature specified for that gearbox.
Porsche closes its PDK valve procedure for the 95B Macan with a test drive. We end every gearbox job with a road test of the warm car.

The cost of Porsche transmission repair in Dubai turns on the gearbox type, the fault, the oil and the work around the gearbox. A seal or an oil change sits at the low end, and internal damage at the high end. Our code read and oil inspection show where your car falls.
Oil volume counts as well. A PDK job on a 95B Macan can take 8.5 litres of double-clutch oil, plus new O-rings, an oil filter and a sealing ring.
What sets our Porsche gearbox method apart:
Porsche issues its gearbox fixes per type code, so a 997, a 92A and a 95B each get their own check. Every diagnosis at our workshop starts from that code.
On a 2018-on 911 or 718, the PDK carries a clutch fluid beside its gearbox oil. We change both when the gearbox oil falls due.
On the 2018-on Cayenne, Porsche pairs each Tiptronic ATF change with a new ATF filter. We fit both together.
Porsche demands absolute cleanliness and extreme care for work on the PDK. We cap every open ATF port during PDK oil and line work.
More than three-quarters of 718 and 911 cars delivered have PDK, which leaves a share with a manual gearbox. We confirm the gearbox on the car before choosing parts and oil.
Porsche warns that hot ATF scalds and has it cool before a PDK pan comes off. We let the oil cool before the drain.

A Porsche transmission lasts longer in Dubai when its gearbox, transfer gear and final drive oils follow Porsche's Middle East intervals. Each interval runs by distance and by age, and leaks caught early and the selector recall on older cars count as well. We change these oils at the intervals Porsche sets.
In the Middle East, Porsche sets both PDK fluids on the 2018-on 911 and 718 at 180,000 km or 12 years. The 2018-on Cayenne takes fresh Tiptronic ATF at 240,000 km or 16 years.
Porsche sets transfer gear oil on the 2018-on Cayenne at 60,000 km or 4 years. An all-wheel-drive 2018-on 911 has its controlled all-wheel drive oil changed at 90,000 km or 6 years. Ask for both at the inspection where they fall due.
Porsche includes a check for leaks from underneath on the 2018-on Cayenne every 30,000 km or 2 years. Between those checks, a fresh spot where the car parks is the cue to book a look.
Until the selector recall part is fitted, Porsche advises applying the parking brake whenever P is selected on an affected Cayenne or Panamera.

Yes. The Taycan has a 2-speed gearbox on the rear axle. An all-wheel-drive Taycan adds a 1-speed planetary gear at about 8 to 1 on the front axle. In first gear, the rear motor turns about 15 times for each turn of the wheel.
