A Porsche signals an oil change through its service interval indicator. 4 more signs call for a check: "Check oil level", "Maximum oil level exceeded", an oil warning before a flat battery and high oil use. We trace the cause of each, then fix it.
The display lists the oil maintenance as due. We carry out the oil service the indicator lists.
On the 987 Boxster and Cayman and the 997 911, this message stays on when nobody runs the confirmation check after a fill. It also appears when the level has gone unmeasured for a long time. Porsche found sensors replaced without cause, so we measure the level through the on-board computer and correct it.
Short trips and city driving bring up this warning on the 970 Panamera S Hybrid and S E-Hybrid. Porsche's fix is a revised oil fill quantity, plus new engine software for the S E-Hybrid that a Porsche dealer loads. We confirm the level with a dipstick, change the oil to that quantity and send an S E-Hybrid to the dealer for the software.
On the 982 718 GT4, Spyder and GTS 4.0 and the 991 GT3 RS, an oil level message can come before a flat battery. Porsche traces it to the instrument cluster software. We charge the battery, read the fault memory and hand the car over to a Porsche dealer, which loads the cluster update.
On a road-driven 991 GT3, Porsche treats up to 0.8 litre per 1,000 km as normal. Use above that figure calls for a check. We look for oil loss on the engine and underbody first, then measure the use over 1,000 km and repair the cause.
Each Porsche oil change in Dubai at our workshop covers these steps:
6 factors wear out Porsche engine oil in Dubai: dust, heat, short trips, overfilling, hard use and the wrong viscosity. Each one contaminates the oil, thins it with fuel or raises its use. The level reading and the fault memory show which factors apply, and we fix each one at the change.
We change the oil to Porsche's specification, with these results for the driver:
The level you read on the display is the level after the fill, not a value left from before the change.
The service interval indicator counts from this oil change, so it calls the next one on time.
Less friction comes with lower viscosity, so the 0W grade Porsche lists keeps the fuel economy the engine was built for.
API SP oils guard downsized turbo petrol engines against low-speed pre-ignition.
Low-ash ACEA C oils lengthen the life of particulate filters, such as the one on the Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid V8.
New sealing rings keep the drain plugs tight through Dubai's hot months.
A Porsche needs an engine oil that carries the Porsche specification listed for its engine: A40, C40, C30 or C20. Each name ties to a viscosity. C40 is a 0W-40, C30 a 0W-30 and C20 a 0W-20, while A40 covers 0W-40, 5W-40 and 5W-50.
Up to the 2020 models, Porsche places Dubai, Abu Dhabi and the other GCC states in its Group II oil list. There, a 9YA Cayenne with the EA839 V6 takes A40, and a 992 Carrera takes C40.
From the 2021 models, Porsche lists 0W oils worldwide. The Cayenne V6 and Macan 2.0 litre take C20, while the earlier V6 Cayenne S, Macan GTS and Macan Turbo take C30. V8, 992 and 718 engines take C40.
We read the model and engine code to tell the 2 lists apart.
Your Porsche needs an oil change when its service interval indicator calls for it, and at the latest after 15,000 km or 1 year. That rule comes from Porsche's Middle East oil maintenance schedule for the Cayenne, the 991 911 and the 982 718.
The full inspection on the same schedule falls at 30,000 km, 60,000 km and so on, or every 2 years at the latest. Heat, dust and stop-start traffic in the UAE shorten oil change intervals, while the car maker's schedule still sets the figure.
We change the oil when the indicator calls for it, or sooner when a level message or a stored fault concerns the oil.
The job has 6 steps, starting at the fault memory and ending with the level reading.
The service items and any stored oil fault come first. A level message or a battery fault changes the job. We then charge the battery or check the level by Porsche's method ahead of the drain.
We pick a bottle that carries the specification Porsche names for the engine code and model.
The 911 GT3 runs dry-sump lubrication with a separate oil tank, so its oil drains from 2 plugs. On a 991 GT3, Porsche sets 40 Nm for the sump plug and 30 Nm for the tank plug, each with a new sealing ring. The old filter element comes out with the oil, and a new one goes in.
Oil goes in to the minimum mark first, and the engine runs until oil pressure builds. We add the rest 0.1 litre at a time, and on a 991 GT3 one display segment equals about 0.2 litre.
On a 991 GT3, we open the engine cover for 20 seconds to clear the old value. Porsche's measurement then runs at 80 °C or more, on level ground, in P, D or N, after 3 minutes at idle. We read the result on the cluster.
We reset the service interval indicator and read the fault memory once more for any oil entry.
Send your Porsche's model and its indicator reading by WhatsApp, or call us to book.
4 factors set the cost of a Porsche oil change in Dubai: the engine, its oil specification, the number of drain plugs and any fault. A larger engine takes more oil, and the specification limits which oils qualify. A GT3 adds a second drain plug at its oil tank.
On a 970 Panamera S E-Hybrid, Porsche raised the oil fill to 6.25 litres. We identify the engine and check for stored faults, then price the oil, the filter and any repair.
These practices shape each Porsche oil change at our workshop:
We compare each oil message on the cluster with the fix Porsche has published for that model and engine.
The Cayenne carries a lithium starter battery as standard, so we keep a charger of at least 90 A with a lithium charge map connected.
Ahead of a track day, we set the level 3 segments above the minimum, because the oil expands near 100 °C.
Porsche expects a 991 GT3 to use more oil in its first 10,000 km and on track, and we judge its figure against both.
Porsche Classic lists 20W-50 for the 356, 914 and 911 up to 2.7 litres, and 10W-60 for air-cooled 911s from 3.0 litres. The 924, 944, 968 and 928 take 10W-50, and the 996 and 986 take 5W-50.
We note the Porsche specification fitted at each change, so a later top-up stays within it.
Royal Prince Auto Care services these Porsche ranges, listed by type code:
Their engines include the 4.0 litre GT3 flat-six, the Panamera's 2.9 litre V6 and the Cayenne S's 4.0 litre V8.
4 habits keep a Porsche engine on clean oil at the right level between oil changes in Dubai. They are measuring the level at fuel stops, looking for drips after the summer, warming a stored car fully and topping up within one specification.
Porsche advises an oil level check at each refuel on the 987 Boxster and the 997 911. A low reading calls for a top-up, and we trace any loss that keeps coming back.
Check the oil and look under the car for leaks each summer. A fresh drip after the hot months signals a tired seal, and we replace it.
A classic Porsche driven now and then without a full warm-up collects condensation and combustion residues, which acidify the oil and attack engine parts. We drain that oil at the change.
Porsche allows its oils to be mixed within one specification, not across them, so a C40 engine takes a C40 top-up.

No. A 0W-40 suits a Porsche when it carries the Porsche specification listed for that engine, and viscosity alone does not qualify an oil. We check the specification on the bottle against the engine code.
Yes. The petrol engine in a Cayenne or Panamera E-Hybrid has its own oil and filter. Its stop-start use leaves the engine running cool, and condensation forms inside. We change that oil when the service interval indicator calls for it.
No. The 987 Boxster and 997 911 measure the level through the on-board computer, and the 991 GT3 shows it in segments on the instrument cluster. We read the level the way Porsche sets for the model.
No. The all-electric Macan runs on a 100 kWh battery in the underbody and has no engine oil to change. We change engine oil on petrol and E-Hybrid Porsches.
