A Brabus transmission problem shows in what the driver feels and sees. A hard shift, a 4MATIC jolt, shudder at pull-away and a lost gear are felt; rear axle oil and dead paddles are seen. We trace each sign to its part, then repair it ourselves or hand the car to the Mercedes-Benz dealer or Brabus.
AMG versions of the Mercedes 725.0 and 725.1 nine-speeds shift harder than the others, a trait Mercedes records. A Brabus built on an AMG base with one of these gearboxes starts from that firmer character.
We compare the shift with that AMG baseline. A shift outside it needs valve flushing and adaptation, both run by a Mercedes-Benz dealer.
A 4MATIC base car with a 725.0 or 725.1 can show a jolt that starts in the transfer case instead of the gearbox. With the AWD control unit unplugged, or the car in dyno mode, the transfer case drops out of the test. When the jolt stops, we check the transfer case fluid and flush the case when the fluid calls for it.
On a 725.0 or 725.1, Mercedes ties a shudder to the torque converter when it appears while the converter clutch slips. We read the converter values on the road, then drive with the converter locked. A converter that keeps shuddering on fresh fluid goes to the Mercedes-Benz dealer.
A solenoid fault in a 725.0 nine-speed takes the affected gear out of use, and critical faults put the gearbox into limp-home mode. We read the code that names the solenoid. That solenoid sits inside the controller unit, so a Mercedes-Benz dealer repairs it.
A July 2024 recall in Qatar covers G-Class models of 2022 to 2023. The housing of the rear-axle drive can miss its force specification, crack in use and lose oil while driving.
On a Brabus built on one of these cars, oil on that housing is checked against the recall. A covered car goes to the Mercedes-Benz dealer, and we renew the failed seal on a leak outside the recall.
Brabus swaps its carbon paddle shifters for the production paddles on a 2023 or newer G 63 of the W 465 series. Brabus lists them as its own assembly job.
When manual shifts stop, we read the steering wheel and gearbox fault memory. Our team repairs a base-car wiring fault and returns a faulty Brabus paddle to Brabus.
Our Brabus transmission repair takes in the base-car gearbox and the transfer case behind it. On G-Class conversions, we also service the axles, and the portal hubs of a factory G 63 4x4².
Heat, a wrong fluid level, additives, converter wear, wear debris and running dry are the 6 causes of Brabus transmission failure in Dubai covered here. Each acts on the Mercedes-Benz gearbox under the conversion, and we answer each with a set step.
Dubai International Airport records a daily high of 30 °C or more throughout June, July, August, September and October. Its August mean of daily highs is 41.9 °C. We drain gearbox fluid that this heat has aged and fill fresh fluid in its place.

A repaired Brabus 800 Superblack changes gear by its carbon paddles on demand, or leaves the shifting to the automatic.
A 725.0 cleared of its solenoid fault works through all 9 forward gears and reverse again.
In a 725.0, once the lock-up clutch closes, the torque converter passes power with little slip between crankshaft and drive shaft.
A Brabus cleared of converter shudder pulls away from a standstill without the shake it had before.
Fresh gearbox oil cools the unit, guards it against contamination and carries its control commands.
Above 90 °C, the thermostat of a 725.0 opens fully and sends all gearbox oil through the cooler, which prevents overheating damage.
A Brabus gearbox depends on the car it is built on. The Brabus 800 Superblack, XL 800 and 800 4x4² Edition RHD on the G 63 use a nine-speed automatic. So do the 900 Rocket Edition on the GLE 63 S Coupé and the 750 on the SL 63.
The 900 on the Maybach GLS 600 and the 850 on the Maybach S 680 shift through a nine-speed automatic too. The Brabus 1000 sends its power through the SPEEDSHIFT MCT nine-speed and 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive.
The Crawler, built by Brabus on its own chassis, has a 9-speed automatic, permanent all-wheel drive and electronically controlled differential locks. The Bodo uses an 8-speed torque-converter automatic, rear-wheel drive and an electronic differential with up to 100 percent locking. We refer gearbox work on both to Brabus.
A Brabus power kit raises the torque that reaches the gearbox. The PowerXtra B40S-800 lifts a W 465 G 63 from 850 Nm to 1,000 Nm of peak torque. We note any kit on the car before we judge a shift or a slip.
Brabus caps the torque of 2 of its cars below their peak. The 900 Rocket Edition, a W 465 G 63 conversion, makes 1,250 Nm, limited to 1,050 Nm to protect drivetrain components. The Brabus 1000 makes 1,820 Nm and is limited to 1,620 Nm to safeguard the drivetrain.
Each Brabus gearbox job moves through the stages below:
We start from the base car's series code and the gearbox number on the unit. Brabus parts in the driveline, such as paddles or portal axles, go on the record too.
We save the quick test and the gearbox control unit data before anything changes. A car we hand to the Mercedes-Benz dealer keeps that record with it.
The complaint is repeated on a road test. Where a matching base car is at hand, we drive it too, since Mercedes rates a shift against a like vehicle.
Mercedes checks the oil level of a 725.0 by overflow, the method it also uses on the 722.9 seven-speed. We set the level that way before the next test.
After the drain, debris in the pan is set against the Mercedes reference pictures, and we renew the pan and filter. The refill follows sheet 236.17 for a 725.0, with sheet 236.18 preferred for a 725.1.
A Mercedes-Benz dealer takes adaptation runs, software updates and recall work. Parts that Brabus assembles itself return to Brabus.

3 factors shape the bill for Brabus transmission repair in Dubai: the gearbox type, the fault depth and the 4x4 parts on the car. We size each job from its codes and from the state of the fluid we drain from the gearbox.
On a 725.0 or 725.1, a clutch or brake pack that stays not OK after adaptation marks an internal fault, and that pack is replaced. With more than 3 packs failing, Mercedes replaces the whole gearbox. Both jobs belong to the Mercedes-Benz dealer.
On a G-Class conversion, the transfer case fluid, the axle oils and the portal gear oil each add a separate item.

We isolate a driveline noise in neutral, gear by gear and on the lift in dyno mode. The part it traces to is replaced, and a noise from inside the gearbox goes to the dealer.
Mercedes tightened its cleanliness rules for work on this gearbox because of its direct-acting solenoids. We keep the pan, the bench and the fluid clear of dust throughout the job.
On the Brabus 900 Superblack built on the Lamborghini Urus SE, the 8-speed automatic houses the electric motor. We refer work on that gearbox to a Lamborghini dealer.
Mercedes lists a 75W-140 gear oil for the axle differentials of the 463 AMG G 63, marked as required in warm countries. We fill the axles of a Brabus built on that car with it.
A shift fault that comes and goes gets a data trace recorded while it happens. We repair the part the trace shows, or refer it when it sits inside the gearbox.
We keep the date, the distance and the work of each earlier repair for the same complaint. A repeat fault is then checked against the parts already renewed.
Gearbox life on a Brabus in Dubai grows with 4 owner habits. They cover fluid changes for hard driving and for a used car, one fluid type per top-up and the transfer case fluid. We carry out each fluid change these habits call for.
Long fast runs, towing and hard driving all bring the next gearbox oil change closer. Book it earlier when your Brabus is driven like that.
Unknown past use is a reason to bring the gearbox oil change forward. Ask for it soon after you buy a used Brabus.
Red ATF134 and blue FE-ATF134 are older Mercedes fluids that must stay out of the yellow-gold GTL fill of a 725.0. Ask for each top-up in the same fluid as the fill.
Mercedes gives the FT46 transfer case of a 463 G-Class from the 2019 model on its own fluid entry, apart from the gearbox. Ask for it when the gearbox fluid of a Brabus on that G-Class is changed.
