Read the resting voltage
We start with the voltage at rest, where about 12.8 V is the ideal reading. A battery below 12.4 V goes on charge before any further test.

Measure the charging voltage
With the engine running, we read the voltage the alternator delivers to the battery. A modern alternator does not exceed 14.4 V, and a low reading sends us to the alternator and its wiring for repair.

Check the current drawn while parked
Once the car is asleep, we measure the current it still draws. A high draw leads us to the circuit that keeps the car awake, and we repair that circuit.

Match the Lotus battery type
Lotus calls for a replacement of the same type as the original battery on Emiras of 2022 to 2025. We fit that type on every Lotus, and never a smaller battery.

Connect a memory saver
A memory saver goes on before the cables come off. It keeps the electrical system supplied while the battery is out.

Remove the negative cable first
On a 2026 Emira, Lotus has the black negative cable disconnected first and reconnected last. We keep that order on every Lotus, then tighten the hold-down and terminals.
Book a Lotus battery test by phone or WhatsApp, quoting the model of the car.
