Noise as the glass moves
A noise during opening and closing can signal a broken regulator, the cable and rail mechanism that carries the glass. On a Volkswagen Beetle Convertible rear side window, that noise came with a window that did not close. We replace the regulator that has broken.

Slow closing or glass that stops short
Glass that closes slowly, or not at all, can come from binding in the door frame. On a Subaru with this fault, Subaru traces it to glass riding in the centre of the sash frame instead of rotating on it. Subaru's fix pairs a new regulator with a new glass run channel seal, and we replace both together.

One-touch up or down has stopped
On a 2024 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, a battery disconnection or a new window fuse cancels the window safety mechanism. So do 5 anti-trap reversals in a row, and short, choppy presses can stop automatic movement for a moment.
On a 2024 Pajero Sport, we close the window and hold the switch up for at least 1 second to reset it. When one-touch still fails, we test the switch and motor and replace the faulty one.

A window that ignores its own switch
A window that moves from the driver's switch but not from its own switch can be locked out. On a Hyundai Tucson, the lock button disables the rear switches, and on a 2024 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport the lock switch disables every passenger switch. We check the lock first, then test the door switch and its wiring and replace the faulty part.

Glass that reverses on a bump
Automatic closing can reverse after a jolt, because the system reads the shock as a trapped hand. Mazda names a strong impact for the CX-8, and Mitsubishi a physical shock for the 2024 Pajero Sport. When it also reverses on a smooth road, we look for drag on the glass and replace the worn channel, regulator or motor behind it.

Windows that stop with the engine off
On a 2024 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, the windows work for 30 seconds after the engine stops, and stop once a front door opens. A window that stays dead with the ignition on has a fault. We test the supply at the window motor, then replace the motor, switch or wiring that has failed.
