Oncoming drivers are dazzled
A dipped beam set too high dazzles other road users and impairs their view of the road ahead. We lower a beam that sits too high to the height its headlamp is designed for.

Headlights that need adjusting give 5 signs, in the beam and on the dashboard. The dipped beam shows 3 of them: oncoming drivers are dazzled, the light ends short, or the beam rises with passengers and luggage. The other 2 are a levelling warning and the glare of a xenon conversion kit.
A dipped beam set too high dazzles other road users and impairs their view of the road ahead. We lower a beam that sits too high to the height its headlamp is designed for.
A dipped beam set too low limits your own field of vision in the dark. We raise a low-set beam back to its designed height on both sides.
Passengers, luggage and the pitch of the body alter how far the headlamps reach, which can dazzle oncoming drivers. A beam that still climbs with a full car signals a levelling fault. We fix the part that has stopped correcting it.
A signal light or a text message in the cockpit alerts the driver to a levelling fault. Depending on the car, the headlamps then stay where they were or move to a home position and stay there.
We test the voltage supply to the actuator motors, the control unit and the axle sensor. The failed part is then replaced and the beam aimed again.
A xenon bulb fitted into a reflector headlamp built for halogen produced glare as high as 100 times the allowed limit in laboratory tests. We remove the kit and fit the bulb type the maker specifies, through our light bulb replacement service.
The service covers the aim, the levelling and the parts that keep the beam clean:
A headlamp that fails to light, flickers or holds water belongs to our car light repair service. We aim every headlamp we repair or replace there.
Headlights go out of alignment in Dubai through levelling faults, a missed basic setting, mechanical damage or a conversion kit. Each one leaves the dipped beam at the wrong height or without a usable cut-off line, the sharp top edge of the beam. The 6 causes are:
Rising sand reaches the Dubai International Airport weather station on 17.7 days annually. Dirt on a headlamp lens cuts visibility and raises glare, and lamps with intensive light such as xenon are more prone to it. We clean each lens before we aim it.
We load the boot with the dipped beam on the beamsetter and watch the cut-off line. Semi-static levelling moves slowly enough to follow on the screen, and dynamic levelling shows as a brief flash. No movement sends us to the sensor, actuator and cable, and we renew the faulty part.
A correctly aimed and levelled headlamp gives you these results on the road:
A headlamp mounted 60 cm high and set at a 1 per cent downward tilt lights the road for 60 m. We set the tilt so your dipped beam reaches that designed distance.
Almost all cars with xenon headlights have dynamic levelling, which also reacts to acceleration and braking. Its actuator motors move within fractions of a second, so the beam holds its height as the car pitches.
A working levelling system lowers the cut-off line to suit the load. With every seat and the boot in use, the beam stays out of the eyes of oncoming drivers.
Once the cut-off line is set correctly, the levelling control unit stores that position as its new control value. The levelling then works from the corrected aim.
In a bi-xenon headlamp, one projection module gives both the dipped beam and the main beam. That main beam reaches further and lights the road edges better, and we centre it on the beamsetter marking.
A non-dazzling main beam throws a square light pattern instead of the oval spot of a normal main beam. A pattern that is not set correctly can expose other drivers to extreme glare.
Headlight adjustment needs a diagnostic tester on cars whose automatic levelling control unit is set to basic mode during the adjustment. The tester puts the control unit into that mode before the beam is aimed. A non-dazzling main beam with a square light pattern is also adjusted through a tester menu.
A replaced LED headlamp or light control unit can need its software adapted to the car. That work runs online and needs access to the car maker's portal.
On those cars, we adjust what can be adjusted mechanically and refer basic settings that need the maker's tester to its dealer. Online adaptation and functions reserved for the maker's own tester go to the maker's dealer, and we aim the headlamps once that work is done.
Every headlamp we aim passes 6 steps, and the last one is a glare reading.
We test every headlamp function and check the cover lenses for stone chips, scratches and dullness. Levelling and LED faults are stored in the control unit's error memory, and we document each entry before clearing it.
We set the tyres to their prescribed pressure and place 75 kg on the driver's seat, with no other load. Cars with air or hydraulic suspension follow the maker's instructions.
We centre the beamsetter box on the headlamp, within 3 cm vertically and horizontally. Its sight line is then squared to the car's long axis.
The forward inclination is printed on the headlamp as a percentage. A value of 1 per cent means the dipped beam drops 10 cm over 10 m, and we set the beamsetter to that figure.
We turn the adjusters until the dipped cut-off line touches the dividing line and its kink point sits on the central marking. The main beam centre goes on the same marking, and fog lamps are set level across the screen.
A luxmeter reads the dipped beam glare, which stays at 1.0 lux or less for halogen and 1.3 lux or less for xenon. A headlamp that clearly exceeds its limit is replaced.
Call us to book a headlight aim check, and mention whether the glare or the short beam came first.
The cost of xenon headlight adjustment in Dubai rests on 4 factors: the levelling type, the tester work, levelling repairs and the headlamp itself. Manual, semi-static and dynamic levelling differ in parts and steps. Levelling repairs and a headlamp over its glare limit add to the aim.
Compact cars without a long overhang can do without a front axle sensor, because their angle changes at the rear axle. Other cars carry a front and a rear axle sensor.
Send the make and model of your car by WhatsApp, and we book its aim check.
Our headlamp work rests on measured steps:
Headlamp aim has its own floor standard, DIN ISO 10604. An error of 5 mm on the beamsetter screen equals 10 cm at 10 m, so we aim on a floor within its tolerances.
The lens in a beamsetter shortens the 10 m test distance to 50 cm. We read each beam on the aiming screen instead of a marked wall.
The starting pulse from a xenon ballast reaches as much as 30 kV, and xenon lamp units operate at a high temperature. We turn off the ignition and let the lamps cool before we touch them.
The UN lighting regulation sets an initial dipped-beam aim of minus 1 to minus 1.5 per cent below 0.8 m mounting height. Above 1 m, it sets minus 1.5 to minus 2 per cent, and we check each printed value against these ranges.
A working headlamp washer pump is clearly audible. When it stays silent, we check its voltage supply and fuse, then mend the wiring or renew the pump.
We carry out xenon headlight adjustment, LED aim and halogen aim on all the makes we take in. The work happens at our single workshop in Dubai Investment Park 2.
Xenon headlights stay aimed and clear in Dubai through 4 owner habits. These cover the washer fluid mix, washing with the lights on, a manual switch set to the load and a pause after loading. We check the washer spray and the levelling response at every aim check.
Too much cleaning agent in the washer water forms heavy foam in the headlamp nozzles. That foam sticks to the headlamp and upsets the light distribution.
Headlamp washers spray together with the screen washer, and that coupling works with the lights switched on. Rinsing with the headlamps lit takes the dust off both lenses.
On a car with manual levelling, the driver sets the headlamp inclination with a switch. A loaded car with the switch left unset can dazzle oncoming traffic.
On the 2024 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, automatic levelling adjusts the beam to occupants and luggage while the car is stopped.

Yes. A new xenon headlamp is aimed on the beamsetter like the original. A car with automatic levelling also needs the basic setting. A headlamp left without it is a recorded cause of levelling faults.
The RTA periodic test for light vehicles looks at main and dipped-beam headlamps. It covers their state and operation, the lenses, the light colour and visual efficiency. The UN lighting regulation sets both beams as white. For heavy vehicles, the RTA also counts incorrect aim on a headlight tester as a defect.
Yes. The UN lighting rules pair xenon dipped beams with automatic levelling and headlamp cleaning, so both systems are part of the job. The UN lighting regulation requires cleaning on dipped beams above 2,000 lumen. The glare limit after aiming is 1.3 lux for xenon, against 1.0 lux for halogen.
Yes. LED headlamps are aimed with the same beamsetter steps and the same printed inclination. The 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class W212 with full LED headlamps is aimed at a forward inclination of 1 per cent. Its levelling sits in the basic setting during the aim.
