A Bugatti is due for AC repair once any of 4 signs appears. Warm air in a queue and a cabin that stays hot after parking come from the refrigerant circuit. Draughts or vent noise and a climate control fault come from the air side or the electronics.
A Bugatti that cools on the move but blows warm in a queue is not shedding its heat. With no driving airflow across the condensers at a standstill, high-side pressure builds. Our checks cover the airflow, the charge and both condensers, and we repair whichever is at fault.
A Chiron or Divo that stays warm long after a start in the sun has lost cooling output. A low charge, a weak compressor or a blocked expansion valve sits behind it. We log the vent air temperature with the high and low pressures, then seal the leak, renew the compressor or replace the valve.
Refrigerant squeezing through a part-blocked expansion valve can whistle behind the dashboard. A jet of air on one seat comes from a flap or duct out of place. We replace the valve, or refit or renew the flap or duct.
A Chiron's climate controls sit apart from the infotainment on the centre console, each unit with its own display. Behind them works an AC control unit that Bugatti developed new for the Chiron. A climate panel that stops responding traces back to that unit, a sensor or the wiring, and we repair or replace the faulty part.

Bugatti AC failure in Dubai goes back to 6 causes, and the car's own design accounts for 4. Sun through the glass, the Sky View roof, exhaust heat at the compressor and the pressure the system works at add load. Leaks along the long line run and electrical faults complete the list.
August daily highs in Dubai averaged 41.9 °C over 1991 to 2020, on the record kept at Dubai International Airport. The highest reading in that period, 48.8 °C, also fell in August.

Bugatti wants the selected cabin temperature established quickly. A full charge and a sound compressor get the cabin there after a hot start.
Bugatti designs its AC so that occupants feel no draughts and hear no noise from it. A repaired air side gives that quiet comfort back.
The vents stay cold while a Bugatti idles at a junction or creeps through a queue.
A restored circuit gives back the cooling output Bugatti built in to counter the sun load on the cabin.
Oil travels round a sealed circuit with the refrigerant, so the compressor on the engine keeps its lubrication.
Bugatti refines its refrigerant circuit to use as little refrigerant as it can. A sealed repair keeps that charge in place.
The AC on a Bugatti Chiron runs on a compressor with up to 10 kW of cooling capacity and 2 condensers to shed the heat. A central AC unit controls the system. Bugatti uses the same layout on the Divo and on every Chiron model, the Chiron Pur Sport included.
The system moves about 3 kg of refrigerant a minute. Up to about 250 km/h, air enters the cabin at the base of the windscreen. Above that speed, negative pressure takes over, and an extra ram air flap with an optimised blower keeps air coming in.
We repair this circuit part by part, from the condensers along the line run to the engine-mounted compressor and the ram air flap.
Each Bugatti AC job moves through the steps below in turn:
The AC control unit comes first: our diagnostic tester reads its fault codes, then its live values. The sensor, actuator or wire behind each code is then repaired or replaced. Any fix that calls for Bugatti software is referred to a Bugatti dealer, which runs the update.
Both condensers and each joint along the lines get checked for damage, oil traces and sand. We replace any damaged condenser, pipe or hose.
In hot-weather testing, Bugatti left a Centodieci standing in blazing sun with the AC on full blast, in heat up to 45 °C. Our version parks the car with the AC at maximum while gauges log both sides of the circuit and the centre-vent air temperature. Those readings, with the outside heat and humidity, are set against the maker's figures.
An electronic detector, or forming gas and a sniffer, follows the circuit for escaping refrigerant. Whichever pipe, union or seal is leaking gets renewed by our technician.
Out comes the failed part, be it compressor, condenser, valve or hose, and in goes its replacement. Each opening of the circuit earns a new receiver-drier, as saturated desiccant cannot be regenerated. Where a compressor has failed, the lines get a flush, and we replace each part that cannot take one.
Vacuum boils off the moisture and draws out the air, and a hold test confirms the circuit stays tight. We weigh in the specified charge of refrigerant and repeat the standstill test.

Our station recovers the full charge before a pipe is undone, so no refrigerant reaches the atmosphere. The recovered gas is weighed, which shows how much the circuit had lost.
A Bugatti gets no refrigerant until its leak is sealed. Topping up a leaking circuit loses the gas a second time.
With a new compressor fitted, we set the oil quantity to the full system figure. Excess oil or refrigerant risks a hydraulic lock in the compressor.
We check under UV light for leak dye fitted at the factory before adding more. Surplus dye reduces the compressor's lubrication and can block its valves.
We inspect the old compressor's oil for iron filings. Where they appear, the expansion valve is renewed along with the compressor.
Each refrigerant type has its own service couplings, so different refrigerants cannot mix by mistake. Our technician confirms which refrigerant the circuit holds, then connects the station built for it.

A Bugatti dealer takes it, and we refer every Tourbillon AC job there. The Tourbillon's electric motors run on an 800 V system, so Bugatti handles all high-voltage work on it. Bugatti validated its cabin climate control in hot-weather testing on roads at about 45 °C.
