Volkswagen major and minor service

We work through the inspection and replacement list due at the car's service interval. Brakes, tyres, lights, wipers and fluid levels are checked at every service, and worn wiper blades are renewed.

Volkswagen oil services

We drain the engine oil, change the filter and refill to the Volkswagen oil standard set for that engine. On Volkswagen's worldwide oil list, VW 508 00 and 509 00 oils are SAE 0W-20. VW 504 00 and 507 00 oils come as 5W-30 or 0W-30.

Volkswagen engine repair

On TSI petrol engines, we locate each leak, misfire or turbocharger fault and replace the failed seal, coil, injector or hose. The EA888 evo4 2.0 TSI injects fuel at 350 bar, and the 1.5 TSI evo2 of the EA211 family adds ACTplus cylinder shut-off.

Volkswagen links a repeat coolant leak at the water pump to engine oil swelling the pump gasket. On that fault, we renew the gasket and vacuum-bleed the cooling system.

Volkswagen transmission service and gearbox inspection

We check the gearbox for oil leaks and stored faults, then replace the leaking seal, cooler line or failed sensor. The GCC Touareg, Teramont and T-Roc use an 8-speed automatic. The facelifted Golf VII GTI brought the DQ381 7-speed DSG.

Volkswagen 4Motion repair

On 4Motion cars, we inspect the driveshafts, joints, rear final drive and all-wheel drive coupling, then renew leaking seals and worn joints. In the GCC, 4Motion drives the Golf R, the Teramont, the Touareg and the 4Motion versions of the Tiguan. The GCC Golf R adds R-Performance torque vectoring.

Volkswagen brake repair

Pads, discs and wear sensors are renewed, along with the brake fluid, and we overhaul or replace a sticking caliper. The GCC Golf GTI carries larger brake discs with red calipers.

On the Golf R Estate (Golf 8), the discs grew from 340 x 30 mm to 357 x 34 mm. They are pin discs with an aluminium pot.

Volkswagen suspension repair and wheel alignment

Worn control arms, bushes, shock absorbers and air struts are replaced, and the job ends with a wheel and steering alignment. The GCC Touareg offers air suspension, and the 2018 Touareg added active roll compensation with electromechanical anti-roll bars. The GCC third-generation Tiguan carries adaptive chassis control Pro.

Volkswagen AC service and repair

A pressure test and dye show where the AC leaks, and we replace the failed compressor, condenser or expansion valve. The system is then charged by weight with the refrigerant named on the under-bonnet label.

Volkswagen battery replacement and electrical repair

We load-test the battery and measure the charging voltage and starter current, then replace the part that has failed. An AGM battery takes the place of a factory EFB when Volkswagen's parts catalogue designates it. On cars with the J367 battery monitoring module, we adapt the new battery to the car, as start-stop stays off without it.

We follow an electrical fault to the broken wire, connector or sensor, then repair or replace it.

Our diagnostic read covers the engine, gearbox, ABS and airbag control units, and we note each warning on the instrument cluster.

Inspect the underside for leaks

Hoses, seals, driveshaft boots, brake lines and suspension joints are checked for leaks and wear from underneath.

Each code leads to a test of its sensor, wiring or component, so the part we replace is the one that failed.

Repair and complete the service

We fit the replacement parts and carry out the service items due at that interval.

Road-test and recheck

After a road test, we read the codes again and top up any low fluid.
