Land Rover Battery ReplacementOur Land Rover service in Dubai spans 9 systems, running from the routine service up to the hybrid drive. Each card sums up one of them.
Our minor and major services cover the oil, filters, fluids and inspection items that fall due on a Defender, Discovery or Discovery Sport.
On a 2023 UAE-spec Defender, Discovery or Discovery Sport, petrol engines take SAE 0W-20 (STJLR.03.5006) and diesels SAE 0W-30 (STJLR.03.5007). We renew the filter with each oil change.
Oil and coolant leaks, breather faults and turbo faults are repaired on Ingenium petrol and diesel engines and the Defender's 5.0 litre V8. On the P6 3.0 litre petrol mild hybrid of the Defender and Discovery, JLR has documented shredded primary drive belts, which we replace.
Our gearbox work covers leak checks, the fluid level and repairs to the automatic and its transfer drive. A Discovery (L462) launched with an 8HP45 or 8HP70 eight-speed automatic, and a 2027 Defender (L663) has an eight-speed automatic.
A Defender (L663) comes with air or coil springs on fully independent suspension. We test air springs, valves and the compressor for leaks, renew worn dampers, arms and bushes, and then set the wheel alignment.
Worn pads and discs are replaced, and we renew the brake fluid to DOT4 ISO 4925 Class 6. On a 2027 Defender (L663), the front discs measure 349 to 380 mm, depending on wheel size.
On 2023 Defender, Discovery and Discovery Sport models, the AC runs on R-1234yf, which the under-bonnet label marks as flammable. We trace the leak, renew the leaking or failed part, then refill the refrigerant by weight.
A replacement 12 V battery keeps the type and capacity of the original. That is AGM on a 2023 Defender or Discovery and lithium iron phosphate on a 2027 Defender. Electrical faults are traced from the module that logged them to the wire, plug or part, which we then repair.
We service the engine, brakes and chassis of MHEV and PHEV models. High-voltage work is passed to a Land Rover dealer. That covers the 388.8 V pack of a Defender 110 PHEV and the 15 kWh pack of a Discovery Sport P300e.
The Defender (L663), Discovery (L462) and Discovery Sport (L550) have 6 common problems between them. They involve air springs, coolant leaks, idle, gearbox codes, AC cooling and seat belts. Below, each fault comes with the cars it affects and the work we do on it.
We work on these Defender, Discovery and Discovery Sport lines, from the current models back to the older ones:
The Defender 130 seats up to 8 people in 3 rows. Range Rover models, the Evoque and Velar included, have their own page under Range Rover.
The service interval indicator decides when a Land Rover service in Dubai is due. On 2023 Defender, Discovery and Discovery Sport models, flexible servicing weighs driving style and conditions to set the date and type of the next service. Schedules for arduous conditions do not appear on the instrument panel.
On a 2023 Defender, brake fluid and coolant are renewed in full at their own, longer intervals, set out on the maintenance check sheet. On JLR's GCC service plan for 2013-on models, a Discovery 4 diesel has an oil service interval of 13,000 km, and the petrol 12,000 km. Each is capped at 6 months, as is the 10,000 km A service of a previous-generation diesel Defender.
Dubai's mean daily high peaks in August at 41.9 °C. JLR treats dusty or sandy roads, and fast driving in heat above 50 °C, as arduous conditions. We apply the arduous items to a Land Rover driven that way.
A Land Rover passes through 5 steps in our workshop.
We write down each panel message with the distance covered and the service indicator reading.
Stored faults are read from each control unit, lamp or no lamp.
Each code is compared with JLR's documented fixes for that model code, and with GCC recall notices.
The faulty part is renewed, and the items due on the indicator are done with the fluids JLR lists for the engine.
The car is road-tested in the same conditions that showed the fault, and we then read every control unit a second time.
To book it in, send the model, such as a Defender 110 or a Discovery Sport, and the panel message on WhatsApp or by phone.
These methods set our Land Rover work apart.
A Discovery Sport can carry a 9HP50 nine-speed automatic, an eight-speed automatic on the P300e or a BG6 six-speed manual on the front-wheel-drive D150. We identify the unit fitted, then pick its fluid and parts.
On a Discovery Sport Ingenium engine, a level up to 5 mm under MAX after the first fill is correct. After a top-up, we let the oil settle and read the level again. On a Defender, too much oil can damage the engine severely, so we never fill past MAX.
On a Discovery (L462) with a suspected air compressor failure, we check the expansion chamber first. When the chamber has failed, JLR repairs it in place of a new compressor, so we pass that job to a Land Rover dealer.
A Defender back from wading has its rear air springs cleared of mud, which can damage the sleeve. We also clean the grille and radiators, so the engine and gearbox do not overheat.
Rebuilds of engines and gearboxes, ADAS calibration and work that calls for JLR special tools are referred to a Land Rover dealer. Software updates go there too, with the codes we read.
We repair the previous Defender and the L663, the Discovery and the Discovery Sport side by side, in the same independent workshop in DIP 2.

Yes. We service the 2023 Defender (L663) with each engine JLR lists for the UAE. They are the 2.0 and 3.0 litre petrol, the 5.0 litre V8 petrol, and the 2.0 and 3.0 litre diesel.
Yes. The OCTA, launched in 2024, runs a 635PS twin-turbo mild hybrid V8 of 4.4 litres and an eight-speed automatic with high and low range. Its front brake discs measure 400 mm. Work on its hydraulically interlinked 6D Dynamics suspension is for a Land Rover dealer.
No. Recall work belongs to a Land Rover dealer, so we check the recall status of each car and refer it. In 2024, Qatar recalled 2024 to 2025 Defender 110 3.0i6 400PS and Discovery 2.0i4 models over cracks that can form in the oil filter housing.
No. A 2023 UAE-spec Discovery Sport comes with an AGM battery, sealed for life, or a low maintenance type with electrolyte to check. JLR shortens the gap between those checks in hot climates, and we make one at each service. Neither type is to be tilted past 45 degrees.
The price of a Land Rover service rests on the items the indicator brings due, the oil quantity and the worn parts found. The oil alone runs from 5.9 litres on a 2023 Discovery Sport 1.5 litre plug-in hybrid to 8.8 litres on a 2023 3.0 litre Discovery.
