Oil pressure warning light
Too little oil in the sump drops the pressure, and the oil pressure warning comes on. Stop the engine and check the level. We top up with the listed grade, then find where the oil went and repair it.

The work we carry out on Jeep models at our Dubai Investment Park workshop. Open the full details below.
A Jeep shows 6 oil signs: the pressure light, a high level, valley oil, a late service counter, dark oil and the km reached. Each one comes from the level, a leak or the interval. We trace every sign to its cause and put it right.
Too little oil in the sump drops the pressure, and the oil pressure warning comes on. Stop the engine and check the level. We top up with the listed grade, then find where the oil went and repair it.
Fuel from short trips and too much oil at the last change both raise the level. With too much oil in the sump, the crankshaft dips into it and oil mist forms. We drain the excess until the level sits between the marks.
For oil in the engine valley, Jeep's check starts at the oil filter adapter and cooler. We fit new seals on the adapter, then add leak dye to the crankcase to confirm the repair. A new adapter goes on when the dye still shows a leak.
On a Middle East Compass MP, the service counter can start at 15,000 km, while Jeep sets 10,000 km for this car. Jeep's fix is a BCM reconfiguration of the counter. We change the oil by the 10,000 km figure and refer the car to a Jeep dealer for the reconfiguration.
Black oil is not proof of worn oil, because colour alone is not a reliable test of its condition. Our team goes by the interval and the level, not the shade.
A Jeep is due once the km or the months since its last change reach its interval. We read both from the car and its last service record, then change the oil and filter.
Every Jeep oil change in Dubai we carry out covers these 9 items:
We follow this list on every Jeep engine we service, from the four-cylinder turbo to the V8.
Jeep engine oil wears out in Dubai from 6 causes: sand, heat, desert driving, fast summer runs, soot and turbo lubrication. Every one of them dirties the oil, lets it leak out or burns it off. Two of the 6 sit on Jeep's severe list for Middle East drivers, which shortens the oil change interval.
Dubai International Airport logs an average of 17.7 rising sand days annually. UAE summer temperatures cross 45 °C. A Jeep driven fast in that heat, or in the desert, meets Jeep's severe list, so we put it on the shorter interval.
We fit a new filter and the grade Jeep lists, and the engine gains these results:
Engine oil lubricates the moving parts, cools the engine and works its hydraulic parts. A full sump of fresh oil keeps all 3 jobs going.
Particles carried in old oil make it abrasive to every part it reaches. Changing the filter with the oil takes them out of the engine.
A new filter carries a return-stop valve that holds oil in it when the engine stops. The filter stays full between drives.
Once a filter clogs, its bypass valve opens and unfiltered oil reaches the engine. A fresh element keeps the oil flowing through the filter media.
Lower viscosity means less friction between moving parts. Filling the grade Jeep lists, not a thicker one, keeps that gain.
On the 2015 Grand Cherokee, Wrangler JK and Cherokee, Jeep lists one grade whatever the outside temperature. A Dubai summer calls for no change of grade.
A Jeep needs the SAE grade and the Chrysler or ACEA standard that Jeep lists for its engine on Middle East cars. On a 2015 Grand Cherokee, the 3.6 litre V6 takes 5.6 litres of SAE 5W-20 with the filter. The 5.7 litre V8 takes 6.6 litres of the same grade.
Both 2015 Grand Cherokee engines take oil to Chrysler Material Standard MS-6395. A 2015 Wrangler JK takes SAE 5W-20 as well.
The 2015 Cherokee 2.4 litre takes SAE 0W-20, with 5W-20 allowed for temporary use. Its 3.2 litre takes SAE 5W-20. A 2015 Compass with the 2.0 or 2.4 litre engine holds 4.26 litres of SAE 5W-20 with the filter, to MS-6395 or ACEA A1/B1.
For the 2.0 litre turbo, the current 3.6 litre and the 3.0 litre Hurricane, we fill to the listing for the engine fitted.
A Jeep gets its oil change at each service on Jeep's Middle East schedule, which covers all models. The first service falls at 5,000 km or 3 months. After that, oil and filter are replaced every 10,000 km or 6 months up to 100,000 km, and the count then starts over.
Jeep advises drivers on its severe list to aim for an oil change every 3,000 km. Dubai's mean daily high passes 35 °C in every month from June to September. Jeep SRT models follow a separate schedule, with a service every 5,000 km.
We set the next change from the km on the car, its model and the way it is driven.
These steps run in order on each Jeep engine we service.
In sandy conditions, the drain plug, filler cap and dipstick are cleaned before they are opened. We clean all 3 first, so no sand reaches the oil.
The old oil runs out through the drain plug, carrying the dust and soot it has collected. We let the sump drain out before the plug goes back in.
On a 2015 Wrangler JK, Jeep calls for a new filter at every oil change, and we fit one on every Jeep. The drain plug gets a new sealing ring, or a new plug where the ring is fixed to it.
We pour fresh oil to the minimum mark, then run the engine until it builds oil pressure. Top-ups of 0.1 litre each bring the level up to the maximum mark.
With the engine idling, our technician looks at the drain plug and the filter for seepage. A dry plug and a dry filter close the job.
With the level correct, the service reminder goes back to zero and counts from this change.

The price of a Jeep oil change in Dubai rests on 4 factors: oil quantity, grade and standard, the filter and any fault found. A 5.7 litre V8 holds more oil than a four-cylinder. A leak or a warning light adds its own repair to the job.
We quote from the engine in your Jeep and the oil listed for it.
Here is what we do differently on a Jeep oil change:
A 2024 Wrangler Rubicon in the UAE keeps the 3.6 litre, and the Rubicon 392 carries a 6.4 litre V8. The 2023 Grand Wagoneer runs a 3.0 litre Hurricane twin-turbo six. We read which engine is fitted before the oil is chosen.
We pour in the listed oil and nothing else. No additive goes into the engine.
A Jeep that loses oil between changes is filled to the maximum mark and driven 1,000 km with its fuel logged. The oil it then takes to reach the mark is its use per 1,000 km. Past 0.5 per cent of the fuel used, we repair the leak or wear behind it.
In the UAE, the 2024 Wrangler Sport and Sahara run a 2.0 litre turbo four-cylinder. It gets the same filter and staged fill as the V8.
The Grand Cherokee L comes with a 3.6 litre V6 with stop-start or a 5.7 litre V8 with cylinder deactivation. Both engines get the same staged fill and leak check.
We log each change with its SAE grade, the Jeep standard, the km and the date. The next change then falls on time.
We service these Jeep lines for oil changes, listed with Jeep's model codes:
The Grand Cherokee L reached Middle East dealers in the third quarter of 2021. Stellantis launched the 2023 Grand Wagoneer in the Middle East.
A Jeep owner keeps the engine protected until the next change with 4 habits. They are a pre-drive check, a correct dipstick reading, a top-up log and care with hot oil. Each habit keeps the level right or shows a loss early, and we read the top-up log at the next change.
Before a drive, check the engine oil and coolant levels. Look under the car for oil or water leaks as well.
Park on level ground and switch off a warm engine. Wait for the oil to drain back to the sump, then read the dipstick.
Note the km and the amount each time you add oil. Those figures show how fast the engine uses oil between changes.
Hot engine oil burns. Let the engine cool before you open the oil filler.

No. On Jeep's Middle East schedule, the 8 and 9-speed automatic fluid and filter are lifetime fill. They are inspected and replaced when required, not at each oil change. Our job covers the engine oil and its filter.
Yes, on 2 models. A 2015 Grand Cherokee takes SAE 5W-30 to Fiat 9.55535-S1 or S3 when 5W-20 to MS-6395 is not available. A 2015 Wrangler JK takes 5W-30 to MS-6395 on the same terms. We fill 5W-20 where Jeep lists it.
Every 5,000 km. Jeep sets a mandatory 5,000 km service interval for a Wrangler used in desert driving or modified. Oil and filter are replaced at each service. We put a desert-driven Wrangler on that interval.
