Our major and minor services follow the item list for the car's step in Fiat's Middle East schedule. Any part those checks find worn is renewed.
The 500's Middle East handbook (2024 capture) gives a 4.4 litre cooling system and a 50 per cent coolant mix. For particularly harsh climates it raises the mix to 60 per cent, which we fill on a 500 in Dubai.
Each oil service renews the filter with the oil, and we fill to the Fiat specification number set for that engine. The Middle East handbooks (2024 capture) list SAE 0W-30 to 9.55535-GS1 for the 500X 1.4 Turbo MultiAir, at 3.6 litres with the filter.
The same 2024 capture gives the Abarth 595 and 695 SAE 10W-50 ACEA C3 to 9.55535-GH2. In the 2018 Tipo handbook, the 1.4 petrol engines take SAE 5W-40 to 9.55535-S2 and the 1.6 litre takes SAE 0W-30 to 9.55535-GS1.
Live data and pressure tests trace a misfire, oil leak or overheating to its cause, and we replace the worn or failed part.
Per the Middle East handbooks (2024 capture), a 500 runs the 1.4 16V engine coded 169A3000, at 73.5 kW and 131 Nm. A 500X carries the 1.4 Turbo MultiAir, type code 55263624, with 103 kW and 230 Nm.
When a Fiat gearbox shifts badly or leaks, we find the seal or part at fault and renew it. The refill uses the fluid Fiat numbers for that gearbox.
On a 500 with the 6-speed Dualogic robotised gearbox, the actuator holds 0.70 litres of 9.55550-SA1 (2024 capture). The 6-speed dual-clutch automatic of a 500X takes 2.1 litres of 9.55550-MZ6 in its casing and differential, and 9.55550-SA1 in its actuator.
We renew pads, discs, rear drums and shoes in axle pairs, and bleed the system after any hydraulic repair. A 500 in its 2024 capture brakes on front discs and rear drums, with a hand lever for the parking brake.
The Middle East 500X has an electric parking brake (2024 capture), which we release by diagnostic tool before rear brake work.
Knocks and wander are traced to the shock absorber, spring, bush or track rod end at fault. We replace that part and align the wheels and steering. A 500 in its 2024 capture uses MacPherson front suspension, a rear torsion beam and electric power steering.
The Abarth 595 and 695 add an anti-roll bar at each end and a steering mode for normal or sport driving (2024 capture).
A leak test comes first. We then renew the leaking or faulty part and refill the refrigerant. The Middle East handbooks for the 500 and 500X (2024 capture) name R1234yf and rule out R134a and R12.
Battery capacity and alternator charging are measured first. The replacement matches the type on the old battery's label, which FCA cars in EMEA markets always carry.
The 500 and 500X Middle East handbooks (2024 capture) call for an EFB, an Enhanced Flooded Battery. On a 500 with Start&Stop, a sensor on the negative pole stays connected except for a battery change. We switch off, close the driver's door and wait at least 1 minute before disconnecting the battery.
We measure voltage and resistance along the circuit a fault code names, then repair the broken wire, corroded connector or failed module.
The common problems on a Fiat with a Gulf recall are a 500X airbag module, an Abarth 500 seat belt and 500 reversing aids. Fiat also warns of clutch overheating on the 500 Dualogic and gearbox overheating on the 500X. The list gives the models first and our fix last.

In 2018, Fiat's Middle East range was the 500, 500C, 500X Urban Look and 500X Cross Look. The Tipo had its first UAE showing at the 2015 Dubai Motor Show. At the same show, the Abarth 595 Competizione marked the Abarth debut in the Middle East.
Fiat maintenance in Dubai runs on Fiat's Middle East schedule, a grid of steps set by distance and by time. For the 500 and 500X in the 2024 capture, a step falls each 6 months or 10,000 km. The 500 has its engine oil and oil filter changed at every step.
In the same 2024 capture, a 500X covering less than 10,000 km in 12 months still has its oil and filter changed every 12 months. The Abarth 595 and 695 grid runs to 100,000 km, also in steps of 10,000 km or 6 months.
Brake fluid is renewed every 12 months on the 500, and every 24 months on the 500X and the Abarth (2024 capture). The 500 instrument cluster shows a reminder 2,000 km before a service falls due. We read that reminder and the car's distance, and work through the items of that step.
The steps below apply to every Fiat we take in at our DIP 2 workshop.
We record the engine code and gearbox type before any work, so the oil, fluids and parts match that version.
Every control unit is scanned for stored codes. Any warning or service reminder on the cluster is noted too.
We measure the part behind each code until one fails its test. That part is then replaced.
A road test checks the repair under load. A second scan then confirms that no fault code has come back, and the service reminder is reset.

Dubai airport's weather station logged 17.7 rising sand days annually over 1981 to 2010. In dusty areas, the Middle East handbooks (2024 capture) renew the 500's air cleaner and the 500X cabin filter every 10,000 km. We apply those dusty-area figures to the 500 and 500X.
Fiat sets the 500's timing belt at 120,000 km or 72 months in clean air (2024 capture). Dusty areas cut that to 60,000 km or 48 months. In Dubai, we renew it on the dusty-area figure.
A 500X diagnoses its own engine oil quality (2024 capture). Fiat advises new oil and a filter once that reading drops below 20 per cent. Our scan reads that value at each visit, then we renew oil and filter below that mark.
Fiat states that a battery of different specifications ends the validity of the 500's service intervals (2024 capture). For that reason, a replacement from us keeps to the original specification.
The Abarth 595 and 695 handbook (2024 capture) and 2018 Tipo handbook list R134a or R1234yf by country, with compressor oil matched to the gas. We fill the system with the gas the engine-bay plate names.
High-voltage work on the electric 500, hybrid systems, driver-assistance calibration, engine and gearbox rebuilds and Fiat special-tool jobs stay outside our workshop. We pass that work to a Fiat dealer. Every other Fiat service and repair we carry out ourselves.

Yes. Their Middle East handbook (2024 capture) lists 1.4 TB petrol engines of 163 to 180 HP, with 5-speed manual or robotised sequential gearboxes. The 180 HP versions brake on perforated discs front and rear, and we renew the timing belt by 60,000 km or 48 months.
Yes. The 2018 Tipo handbook lists 1.4 16V 95 HP, 1.6 litre and 1.4 T-jet 120 HP engines; its automatic takes ATF AW-1 to 9.55550-AV2. We renew the 1.4 16V E4 and 1.6 litre spark plugs every 15,000 km, Fiat's figure for Bahrain and other listed countries.
The 500's Middle East handbook (2024 capture) has the owner check the engine oil level every 3,000 km. It also calls for checks every 1,000 km or before long journeys, with top-ups as needed. At each visit, we read the dipstick as well and add oil where the level is low.
