An Aston Martin shows 6 oil signs: 2 low-level messages, a pressure warning, DBX oil loss, a blank level check and an overfill. Each sign leads back to the oil level, a fault or a leak. We find what is behind each sign and repair it.
On a DB12 or 21MY DBX, the oil level sensing system records the level at start-up on level ground. Near the minimum mark, the cluster shows a message and a warning symbol and stores a code. We add at least 1 litre of the listed grade, and the message clears after the next valid check.
A 21MY DB11, 21MY Vantage or DBS Superleggera shows this message, an amber triangle and a chime as the level nears the minimum. The engine management system stores a code at the same moment. We read that code and top up, then locate the oil loss and repair the leak or the part using the oil.
On a 16MY Vanquish, this symbol comes on when engine oil pressure falls below its minimum. Aston Martin's instruction is to stop driving while the symbol stays on. We confirm the oil level first, then find the source of the pressure drop and fix it.
A 2024 recall in Qatar covers the 2023 DBX for a possible defect in its engine oil cooling hoses. The defect leads to a loss of oil and oil pressure, and the engine can stop suddenly. We check the hoses for oil loss and refer the car to an Aston Martin dealer for the recall work.
Aston Martin has found DBX cars that show no result when the oil level check runs in the instrument cluster. The fix covers an update to the instrument cluster. We run the check, and when it stays blank, we refer the car to an Aston Martin dealer for the update.
On a DB12, running the engine with oil above the upper mark can cause serious engine damage. Too much oil immerses the crankshaft in the sump and creates extra oil mist. We lower the level by draining the surplus oil until it sits between the marks.

Aston Martin engine oil is worn out in Dubai by 6 causes: sand and dust, heat, the wrong grade, mineral oil, turbo lubrication and soot. Each one contaminates the oil, thins its protection or consumes it. Sand and heat come from the Dubai climate, and the other 4 from the oil and the engine.
At Dubai International Airport, rising sand is logged on 17.7 days annually. In June, July and August, the mean daily high there sits between 40.3 °C and 41.9 °C. In that heat and dust, we hold each car to the first of its time and distance limits.
We change the oil to the grade Aston Martin lists, and your car gets these results:
A lower viscosity means less friction inside the engine. That is the gain from the 0W-20 grade wherever Aston Martin lists it.
On a DB12 or DB11, the wrong oil can raise exhaust pollution. Oil to the listed specification avoids that rise.
A particle of soot or dust in the oil scratches every surface it touches. Fresh oil with a new filter takes those particles out of circulation.
A new filter has a return-stop valve that stops the filter and oil channels from emptying at shut-off. The oil is then ready to circulate at the next start.
The drain plug seals tight because it gets a new sealing ring at each change. A plug with its ring built in is swapped for a new plug.
An Aston Martin needs the fully synthetic grade that Aston Martin lists for its engine. For the Middle East, the DB12, the DB11 V8 and the 21MY DBX take 0W-40, while the DB11 V12 and the DBS Superleggera take 0W-20. The DB12 oil meets API SN and ILSAC GF5.
A 16MY Vanquish V12 takes a fully synthetic 0W-40. We read the model and the engine, then fill to the grade listed for them.
Your Aston Martin needs an oil change at the service interval Aston Martin sets for its model, at whichever limit comes first. A DB12 or 25MY Vantage is serviced annually or at its oil service distance, which is 15,000 km in the UAE. The 21MY DBX also runs 15,000 km in the UAE.
A 21MY DB11, a 21MY Vantage and a 20MY DBS Superleggera are serviced every 16,000 km or 12 months. A 16MY Vanquish goes no longer than 12 months between services.
We set the next change from the model, the km on the car and the date of the last change.
The job runs in 6 steps on a V8 or a V12, from the first clean to the reset.
We wipe the area round the sump plug, the oil filler and the dipstick tube before opening any of them. In sandy conditions, that keeps grit out of the fresh oil.
We raise the car on a lift for access to the sump. The old oil then drains from the sump, and a new filter goes on.
We stop the first fill at the minimum mark. With the engine idling until it builds oil pressure, we top up in steps of 0.1 litre.
On a DB11, 21MY Vantage or DBS Superleggera, the engine reaches normal temperature, then stands switched off while the oil settles. About 2 litres lift a DB11 V12 or DBS Superleggera from Min to Max, and about 1.5 litres a DB11 V8 or 21MY Vantage.
The sump plug and the filter housing get a leak inspection after the level is set.

4 factors set the cost of an Aston Martin oil change in Dubai: oil quantity, grade, filter and any fault found. A V12 holds more oil than a V8 and takes a different grade on the DB11. A stored oil code or a leak adds its repair to the bill.

These methods set our Aston Martin oil changes apart:
A DB12, a DB11 V8 and a DB11 V12 accept no viscosity grade or specification other than the one Aston Martin lists. We match the bottle to the engine before the fill.
A DB12 or 25MY Vantage engine can use up to 0.8 litres of oil per 1,000 km once it has covered 10,000 km. We fill to the top mark, log 1,000 km of driving and top up again to measure the use. We repair the cause of any use above that figure.
Aston Martin sets new spark plugs at 64,000 km and new air filters at 48,000 km on a DB12 in the Middle East. We check the km against both at each oil change and replace each item that is due.
A 21MY DBX gets its first rear differential oil change at 16,000 km and new automatic gearbox oil at 80,000 km. On a DBS Superleggera, the automatic differential oil is due at 96,000 km. We flag each one as the km reach it.
The 48 V lithium-ion battery in a DBX charges from the 12 V system and must never be connected to a charger. Any charger we use during the job goes on the 12 V battery.

The V8 in the DB11, DB12 and 25MY Vantage displaces 3982 cc. The V12 in the DB11 and the DBS Superleggera displaces 5204 cc, and the 16MY Vanquish runs a 5935 cc V12.
4 habits protect an Aston Martin engine between oil changes in Dubai. The 4 are a check every fourth fill, a warm cluster check, dipstick checks and level refuelling for a 16MY Vanquish. Together they hold the oil between the marks until we change it again at our workshop.
On a DB12, Aston Martin asks for an oil level check every fourth fuel tank fill or every week, whichever comes sooner. A car in heavy use or adverse conditions gets more frequent checks on the same advice.
On a DB12 or 21MY DBX, open Service and then Oil Level Check in the cluster menu. Park on level ground with the engine at working temperature. A 25MY Vantage lists the same check under Vehicle.
On a DB11, a 21MY Vantage, a DBS Superleggera or a 16MY Vanquish, the electronic level sensing does not replace the owner's dipstick check. Use the dipstick at the same rhythm as the fuel fills.
A 16MY Vanquish also records its oil level at refuelling, when 5 litres or more go in and the car stays still on level ground. Fill up on a flat forecourt so the reading counts.
